This is definitely not an Ida record, though I suspect most Ida fans will find much to love about it. In fact, this album holds together better than any of Ida's offerings, and offers just as many high points. The mood throughout is meditative and gentle, but never boring, and the sound is clearer and crisper than most Ida recordings. Daniel Littleton's sense of restraint really comes through here--the guitar work and electronic instrumentation is deliberate and measured, and leaves plenty of room for the vocals to work their magic. If you love Elizabeth Mitchell's voice as much as I do, then this record is a real gift. She keeps it simple, and the effect is mesmerizing. My favorites are "On Me Forever" and "Looking Backward."If you love Ida's Will You Find Me and Bjork's Vespertine, then this album should make you very happy.

    gorgeous introspective acoustic electronica

This is a seriously underplayed album. It has a more meditative, hypno-minimalist quality than most Ida music--the image in my head is of orange-robed priests, rain forest, ocean, the scent of opium, maybe a volcano in the background--but with some of the same odd melodic and harmonic twists and lots of their signature guitar and harmonium combinations. Very listenable and positive if you have people over. And if you choose to listen to it and do nothing else, very smart.
