I swapped the reels, took it out for some tautog (bait-fishing), and I'm super impressed. It's so light; combining that with the power/action and what you get is a very versatile rod. I like to hold the pole while I'm bait-fishing so the low weight certainly helps with my stamina. I'm not sure what the pinnacle of Surf Rods are but I can say I doubt I will need another rod. For my purposes, this is perfect. I have used it 4-5 times now and caught a few fish on this rod. I have a Okuma Trio-65 paired with this rod and have no trouble bringing in the fish with it. The 11ft rod is just the right size for me. Casting with this rod is easy as well. I use a 5oz sinker usually when I cast and don't have any problems casting a good distance with this rod.
