WaterChef U9000 Premium Under-Sink Water Filtgration System (Brushed Nickel faucet)
I had a plumber installed a Costco Premier Plus Reverse Osmosis System and found out one month later water leaking from the connector caused water damage to the basement bedroom ceiling and carpet which is underneath the kitchen on main floor. The plumber claimed it was cheap plastic part on the connector and bad design. So I removed the whole system and returned to Costco store. I decided to purchase the WaterChef U9000 filtration system after I did some research and called the company customer service. The girl I spoke with on the phone was very friendly and knowledgeable about the product. She walked me through the installation guide and even confirmed with the technician that the connector is made by metal not plastic. So I ordered the system from Amazon, and I had the system two days later. It only took me 30 minutes to install it, no plumber needed, a $100 save right there. The system took up a lot less space under the sink than Premier Plus Reverse Osmosis System, my wife was happy she got all the space back inside the under-sink cabinet. And NO LEAKING!!! The water taste great, also very for making coffee or tea. I highly recommend this product, it’s worth every penny.

We were happy enough with the Pur, but really missed the counter real estate
We have a small kitchen with little counter space; this replaced a 1.9 liter Pur counter water filter. We were happy enough with the Pur, but really missed the real estate, so we opted for an under counter filter instead. We did a lot of research and found most under counter filter systems were made with plastic parts and prone to failure, so we took a chance on this even though it only had a few reviews at the time because the literature indicated quality, metal parts. Installation was a breeze, took little effort and time. It had to be installed on one side of the cabinet, though I don't recall why, when I would have preferred putting it on the other. Followed the instructions and had wonderful tasting water right away, unlike the Pur where we had to cycle through a number of gallons of water before the charcoal taste subsided. At one point filter indicator stopped working until we realized it had been knocked when the garbage disposal was replaced; we simply re-seated the cable and it works fine again. The only complaint I have at this point is that lately when we turn the water on it sprays all over. Unscrewing the aerator, the screen is not held in place by any means such as a gasket or o-ring. To be fair, I have not contacted the vendor for a solution, though I will soon. We installed this unit early December 2014 and we are just ordering a replacement filter. Update: Received and installed the new filter and the problems with the water spraying all over were resolved. Guess the old filter was only letting a small amount of water through, which we didn't realize since the battery for the indicator had come loose. We are only two but we live in a very hard water area (hence the filter) and use it for anything ingestible like drinking, cooking, plants, (3) cats. Replaced the (included) battery but it failed again soon afterwards. We will probably just assume an every 6 month replacement, which is an acceptable trade-off.

Warranty does not cover the faucet
I have had the water filter system for couple years and the faucet leaks really bad. Contact customer service and was told the faucet is not covered by warranty. They asked me to purchase the faucet for $139.95. If warranty does not cover the faucet, what else left for the warranty to cover?

... the WaterChef for several months now and are quite pleased with it's functionality and the water quality
We've been using the WaterChef for several months now and are quite pleased with it's functionality and the water quality. The filter cartridge tank is small yet robust taking less area than any of the prior water filter systems we've used previously. The water dispensing faucet with the package is of top-notched quality and adds to the high value look of the kitchen sink counter. The three LEDs are a nice 21st century touch to alert of impending fliter change needs; however, we have not seen any indication of filter change so we can't really comment on the effectiveness of these LEDs. I've had two other 5 stage RO water filters over the last 20 years and must say that the output quality and water taste is equal if not better. In a nutshell, the biggest plus is very small foot print under the sink, excellent construction, luxurious faucet design and exceptional water quality.

Check clamp and knob every month for possible leaks
This WaterChef U9000 has been under my kitchen counter for 11 months. Installation is well instructed and relatively easy. I changed my sink faucet together with it and I spent 2 hours in total. It is a nice fit for the 4-hole sink (3-hole for the faucet and another for a spray head). All the pipes and wires are long enough for my configuration. Water tastes good, very satisfied after it starts to work. However, after about 1 month, the green LED stopped working. I should flash when water is running. So I tried to reset it, only to figure out that the green LED was dead while the other two were still able to flash. I found it ok to keep using the system since it is a water filtration system not a LED kitchen light. Just a fancy feature got lost. Then today I woke up in the morning with some dripping sound coming from the kitchen. The tank was leaking! My kitchen floor has become a little reflection pond with a running little waterfall. After cleaning up all the mess, I saw the leaking came from the clamp that secures the lid and filter housing. I tried to tighten the knob and it did stop the leak. So after almost a full year's use, the clamp becomes loose. Believe me I turned the knob as much as I can when I installed it, and today I can again turn about half to 3 quarters of a full round turn. I guess for all the owners, it is recommended to check the knob and clamp every month to prevent the leak. Anyways, it seems like a reminder for me to change the filter cartridge.
