Function: This is probably my second favorite knife overall, and my first favorite for slicing. (This has a somewhat curved "belly," and I like my flatter santoku for straight chopping.) I almost rated it 4 stars, but the more I thought about it, it's definitely a 10 for me. I love any knife that has no bolster-- a sharp edge all the way to the heel. I love the large handle, even for just a 5" blade, and how smooth it feels for multiple grips. I love the solid yet lightweight steel construction. With proper care, expect any knife in this series to last a lifetime. Fashion: I think the grantons do prevent things from sticking when slicing. But even if they don't, I love the look, and even the subtler ridges ground into the side of the blade. I love the sound it makes when sheathing, honing, slicing.... I'll use this particular knife at work, but I might buy the whole set for home. I feel so petty, but it's just that pretty.

This knife is dedicated to my greenhouse for use of propagating cuttings. I love that it has a sharpener in the sheath. It's easy to clean and disinfect to make clean cuts on my orchids and aroids, and it always provides a clean cut. I have to make sure to wear gloves when cutting since the blade stays so sharp with the sharpener! It's small and very easy to maneuver for awkwardly shaped plants. I can only imagine how well this would work in the kitchen if this knife works as well as it does on the hard, thick stems I'm normally cutting.

Somehow I acquired a chicago cutlery 5 inch santuko knife some years back. It ended up being my go to when cleaning fat off of meat. Mainly carne asada. I liked the blunt tip. It doesn't stab you like other knives with sharp points. It was also SUPER light which was awesome. The issue I had with that knife is it wouldn't hold a sharp edge long. In fact pieces would chip off of the blade lol. Also the handle was tiny. I have big hands. Fast forward to amazon santuko knives. I've tried 3 different knives from amazon. All felt great in my hand and appeared sharp BUT they were SUPER heavy. I just couldn't get used to the weight. This knife here has an easy to hold handle, is quite sharp and is SUPER light!. It's like an upgraded version of my chicago cutlery knife. Keep in mind this is a $20 knife. Keep your expectations at this level and you will be fine. You do not need a $200 knife. I don't like crazy sharp knives personally. This one fits the bill for me. It's simple and priced right. I will post an update of the blade quality later. So far it's a 100% solid amazon buy!

I have read all the reviews and I have to say that this is a very sharp knife. I used it right out of the package and found it zipped through tomatoes, cheese and onions with ease. I like the design of the knife and have used this type of knife before but was looking for one at home. I was waiting for Cutco to put one on sale, but they did not so I bought this one. Taking the knife out of the sheath is no problem, and I like that I can safely store the knife in a drawer. Hopefully it will last a long time with proper care.

Once again, I’m purchasing knives that look good, lol. This knife is a santoku , with a metal handle, which I like, sturdy and durable, most importantly is that this has a sharpening device on the bottom case, so as you pull the knife out it automatically sharpens, how wonderful is that, good buy,

I have a 5 inch knife from 18 years ago and needed a little larger one . The quality is great and this one is perfect for my use. It is everything that they said it is

I can't say how much I LOVE this knife! Be warned, it is extremely sharp! Use caution when drying this knife, that is usually when you will cut yourself. It cuts with precision and makes cutting more fun than a chore. I find myself looking for things to make just so I can use my knife. This is a definite must have for anyone who loves to cook.

Debido a que aproveché una oferta, me temo que cancelaron el envío para no respetarla. Es por eso que califico con 1 estrella, no por el producto; sino por el vendedor.

Un cuchillo con muy buen balance y una construcción que se percibe resistente. Tengo poco tiempo con el, por lo que no sé cuánto tiempo podrá durar la hoja, pero aparenta que será un tiempo aceptable. La inclusión del afilador en la funda me pareció un buen detalle. Creo que la calidad es comparable a cuchillos del triple de precio
