Please don't eat!
I'm amazed half of you people haven't tried to eat it. There's nothing wrong with the polish or its container. It comes in a push up tube and is supposed to be solid. To use you push a little up and use a polishing pad on a dremel or polishing wheel. When you touch the spinning pad to it it melts a little and transfer some polish to your pad. You then polish your gemstones or metal jewelry lightly and keep reapplying on pad as you polish. If you can't figure that out please don't go out in public because it might confuse you. Your welcome!

nice product
best buffing compound, i was told this would be good for polishing my stones and fossils so i bought it, now heres the kicker , ! it came in this cardboard tube with a cracked plastic cap , so i though it was dried out, plus it was rock hard, so i emailed the manufacture I am sure they had a good laugh at me, but they responded very very fast and this is the way it is suppose to be, so i rub s my stones with it now, I put it on a heating pad to warm it up a bit and i warmed my stones and it worked, it work great it has lasted threw 100's of stones so the value is there also. so now that i told u i made a fool out of myself, i hope this review helps you . I had no issues with the seller or shipper. and like i sad the company is very nice to deal with, and answered all my questions, thanks

Perfect
Once I figured out how to apply it, it's great. I've been working with Wonderstone and it gives it a nice shiny polish. Not mirror quality, but that's also the stone. 100% recommend to friends and family. It doesn't take much to polish a stone, I'm sure this is going to last me a while. Size is perfect. Only thing I'd change is, maybe add some instructions for others; reading reviews it seems using this is quite the learning curve.

Very disappointed
After all the reviews, I was very disappointed. First time ordering this product. i do a lot of wood carving and as a result a lot of knife and gouge sharpening. This arrived with no cover on the end of the tube and it was completely dried out. Hard as a rock. Completely useless attempt to dress my sharpening strops with this. - If the manufacturer or Amazon makes this right I will re-address my review.

How to use Zam
My experience with Zam started with a suggestion in a forum that it could be used to polish turquoise when applied to a piece of leather. When the product arrived, as many people have noticed, it is dry and hard and I was not able to even get it out of its container. The major problem is that there is a crimp along the top of the tube that prevents the Zam from being pushed out in its solid state. For my first try, I decided to apply heat by putting the Zam in the oven on low for a few minutes. When I did this, the Zam took on a pudding like consistency. When I tried to apply it to leather, it would not soak in. I tried first of all the smooth side of the leather and then I tried the rough side of the leather, and in both cases the Zam fail to adhere and just flaked off. I removed all the flaky material and ran the leather through the wash to remove any chemicals that soap and water could remove. The third time was a charm. I knew that Zam would soften when exposed to heat, so the trick was to put the rough side of my leather up in a frying pan, and to put it on the stove at medium-low. I rolled the outside of the tube back and forth on the leather until the outside of the two was hot to the touch. At this point the outside of the Zam was soft enough to push up the tube, but still hard inside, while the leather had become quite hot. I exposed a little bit of the Zam by pushing it out of the tube, and then rubbed the exposed end on the hot leather. This time, since the weather was hot, the Zam soaked into it more than it had in my first trial. I applied it until there was a good coating on the leather, and then removed it all from the heat. Now, I have a piece of leather coated with Zam. I tried a little basic silver and stone polishing, and my leather/Zam combination worked nicely. I do not know how to apply Zam to a rotary wheel tool. I wish some of the people who are satisfied customers would explain how exactly they got it to work. I do know that the Zam is supposed to be hard as a rock when you get it, it is not a mushy compound. It does seem to have more tooth it than a regular silver polishing cloth. If I learn anymore about it or how to use it, I will update this review.

What a huge difference!!!!
I haven’t ever made a review of anything I have bought on Amazon. I had to tell my experience with this product. I have bought carving knives that came with its own sharpening compound. I thought my knives were sharp until I bought this product. I couldn’t believe the difference. It was like I had a brand new knife. All I can say is WOW!!! Buy this product you won’t be disappointed.

Polishes well
I used this as recommended by my jewelry instructor. It works great especially with some water for high lustre. Stick was somewhat crumbly and seemed like old stock.

Harder than I expected… But great results!
When I first bought this, being a newbie to lapidary work, I was expecting it to be more of a paste instead of a stick of powdery plastic. Still, when my tool is running, the heat from the friction of the tool spinning applies a decent amount to the accessory I'm using, but it took me a bit to figure out how to apply it properly. Still, it's lasting me quite a long time, and does an excellent job buffing my stones :)
