I rarely say it, but this was a grooming game changer. I've used several different brands of rechargeable trimmers in the past which worked fine for no guard trims. The vacuum makes all the difference. Without having to continuously comb, the vacuum pulls the hair up and into the cutting blade for a very consistent cut. This was the first time I was able to use a guard when trimming and the results were outstanding. I am not a professional groomer or even an amateur one. Just a pet owner. The vacuum unit itself is about the noise of a fan on medium or high. The hose is long enough that I was able to put the vacuum unit on a table next to the folding table where I was trimming our pup. The trimmer itself is almost silent. Our pup was a little scared of the hose and unit, but he's scared of most large objects and anything new. He settled into the haircut very quickly, and had very few issues. For the best cut, there are a couple tricks I'll do next time and highly recommend. A bath and combing will really help. The only times our pup reacted to my trimming was when the guard got caught in a matted area. Fortunately, he had only a couple small mats. Go slow. With standard trimmers you can kind of push at the speed of the blades. With this one, it pays to go slow and let the vacuum do the work. Make a slow pass the first round, then you can go back and fine-tune any areas that didn't get a smooth cut. Plan ahead where you're going to use the unit. Because the trimmer is attached to a hose, it is a little harder to maneuver around the underside and legs. We ended up moving our pup closer to the vacuum unit for his front side. Use a toothbrush to clean and clear the cutting edge, and make sure to put a little oil on before use. The trimmer was sharp and smooth. I did not have as much problem with buildup as I usually did with the other trimmer. The vacuum keeps the hair from bunching up in the cutting blade. This product vastly exceeded my expectations. I hope it would be as good as a trimmer, and maybe a little bit better thanks to the vacuum. There was almost no mess to clean up, and the vacuum did an amazing job pulling the hair into the trimming blades giving me much more control over a consistent cut, and not having to do a no guard shave. With practice, I expect to be able to complete the haircut in about 15 minutes for our Pomeranian.

Five starts because my neighbor borrowed it and it got left out in the rain over night in the box. To my surprise it still worked. It is pretty quiet my dog doesn't run from it like he does the vacuum. He will sit for his hair cut sometimes gets too comfortable he won't roll over to cut the other side. It handled a pro shedder my neighbors Norwegian Elkhound and my shichi long hair. Tangles aren't problem you just have to go slow on them. You do have to stop and remove hair build as you go as expected. The tank will sometimes get full when I wait to long between haircuts. It is a tremendous upgrade from manually cutting my dogs hair. My clothes and floors aren't covered in hair. Which is the main reason I purchased this product. The only thing I can say is know your guide size before you cut. My poor dog looked like a chucky naked mole rat the first time I choose the wrong guide. Luckily his hair grows fast. This system has saved my hundreds on grooming bills and I should add dog grooming to my resume. It is easy to use and durable. I have yet to try it on my kitten it's shedding season, she's ok with the vacuum so I'm hoping she'll let me. I will update if that goes well.
