Securit Brass Fanlight Catch

Attractive to look at, well-made, and from real solid Brass. Or it could be Gunmetal, as it has that nice warm, reddish tone. I never use electric screwdrivers, with Brass screws, as the soft metal can easily twist and brake off; use a hand screwdriver. They are nicely buffed, to a good shine, and have a nice feel to them. The internal spring is just the right strength, to make it feel secure. I'm using both of mine, to secure two small gates, at both ends of a decking platform. Screws supplied, simple to fit, arrived on time, and at a reasonable price. No more could I ask.

This looks much better than the plastic things that you get with standard loft hatch kits. It's also very strong, so there's no danger of the loft hatch bursting open as long as you've screwed the catch into solid wood. If you're lucky, the pole that came with your loft ladder will have a hook on the end that you can also use to operate this catch. The spring is quite strong, so you'll need to make sure that the pole and hook are up to the job. A bonus is the nice, satisfying "boing" it makes when you close the hatch.

Fitted to loft latch without problem. Able to use a pole with hook to open the loft and pull down the ladder. Ideal for keeping loft hatch cover in place.

It is good, but I didn't really need to fit it - because the concertina loft ladder I purchased included a satisfactory locking device with the accessories suppllied.
