After having to return a wrist fitness tracker, because it was too big for my wrist, I decided that a plain, simple pedometer had been good enough for all these years, so I narrowed them down to three, then plumped for this one. Activation is very easy - just remove the sticker from the screen and pull out the battery insulation tab. Mine already showed 10 steps and still didn’t change when I walked around for about 20 steps, so I just pressed the reset button, the screen went to zeros and I was good to go. To test it, I was counting the steps in my head as I was walking around, and going up and down stairs, and I can say it is very accurate. Every time you move, it doesn’t start to count your steps until you have done 10 steps, then adds these to the total. This is to prevent movements that aren’t steps being recorded in the total. When you sit/lie down, the screen knocks itself off, to preserve the battery life. The screen is a great size and so easy to see, even if you are walking or running. If you want to start your step count again the next day, you have to manually reset the pedometer, but that takes a couple of seconds. You can clip the pedometer to your clothes, wear it on the lanyard, (which it included), or pop it in your pocket or bag. If you stop walking before 10 has been counted it will not include them in your total. Stop starting in a confined area with under 10 steps at a time will not count accurately. If you are performing similar movements to walking it will count them as steps such as sawing wood, tapping your foot or other up/ down movements with a slight forward/ back motion similar to walking. Great on a walk not so good in the kitchen. If you buy one that counts every movement, it will also be inaccurate as it will measure every crouch/ reach Bob or trip. Speaking as an engineer, it would be very difficult to produce anything more accurate for this size and cost. This little counter is perfect for outdoor walks, holidays and exercising the dog not so good whilst dusting the house. This is only my opinion. I hope it is useful.. **Q: How accurate is the step counting if using the lanyard?** A: I have used the lanyard and just had it in my pocket it’s been accurate each time with both I even cheated and set the step counter on my phone to see and they were both the same, so yes I’d recommend this item you won’t be disappointed **Q: Can this work if attached to my shoe?** A: It works in a pocket, in a back pack, in my hand so see no reason why it wouldn’t work on a shoe if ted to the shoelace!
