Not for heavy chewing dogs LOL
It's Great. Exactly what was discribed. I bought it for my 2 Great Danes, hoping they would play chase with it. Unfortunately, Atticus took one look at it, sniifed it and picked it up. Great I'm thinking, he likes it. He carried it to his bed and laid down with it. Then immediately chewed the handle off of it. I'm currently trying to figure out if it would be worth sewing a heavy canvas cover for it with a cloth handle. NOT the supplier or the manufacturor's fault. I should have known better.

Not nearly as durable as those I bought years ago
I have purchased Jolly balls for my dogs for a very long time. I had an 8" Jolly ball purchased in 2008 that stood up to Irish Wolfhounds from puppyhood through old age, a Boxer, a Coonhound, and a Lab/Shepherd mix. All the larger dogs are gone now but when we got a new, smaller breed puppy that enjoyed the same ball I thought I would get another as the old one was starting to break at the handle. And that's fine, it stood up to hard use for 13 years. So I bought a new 8" Jolly ball in July 2025 and it has already been destroyed by a 15 lb puppy. The Jollypets website suggests the 8" ball for large dogs in the 60-90 lb. range, and this Amazon listing says 20-60 lbs. Either way a 15 lb. dog should not be able to destroy it yet my Miniature Poodle tore the handle right off in less than 80 days. I don't know if they have changed the material they are made of or what, but the durability I expected from past experience was nowhere to be found and I am profoundly disappointed in the quality of the newer Jolly ball. If a 15 lb. puppy can destroy a ball advertised for 20-60 lb. dogs (never mind 60-90 lbs.) something is wrong. I feel like Jolly should either replace this or refund my money. Obviously I am outside their return window, cannot prove manufacturer defect, and don't expect anything, but this really leaves a bad taste in my mouth for Jolly products.

Great heavy duty toy
My German shepherd loves to play with this toy. The material is super heavy duty and holding up to her strong bite. Ours is red rubbery material so is strong and easily found outside in the yard. She plays with it inside too but its a little big to be an inside toy. There's no squeakers in it. Very good playability, functional, and we love it. We bought it because Lucy likes to carry around bricks which is damaging her teeth. We got rid of all the bricks in the yard and she loves to carry and herd this ball around.

So far it’s holding up well to the ultimate beast
Pretty solid with only one issue, the handle. My Aussie-Doodle is an aggressive chewer and and take out even the most expensive and toughest toys. This one has held on for several months and still kicking, the only thing she was able to rip off was the handle. The ball is still intact and she still plays with it regularly.

Good toy. Terrible smell
I only rate this a three out of five stars because every jolly ball I get has a different scent to it. I got a red one and it had a strawberry smell to it and now I have a purple one and it has an artificial grape smell to it which ordinarily wouldn’t be that bad but the smell is so artificial and so strong that it reeks up my whole house. Why are these toys scented. These are for dogs, if anything they should be like peanut butter scented or beef scented not artificial, grape and strawberry lol I have a German Shepherd and a St. Bernard who played tug-of-war with this ball. One last me about a month.

Great Long Lasting Ball but for Supervised Play Only - Not a Chew Toy
Heavy but dogs love it. Depends on the dog, like every other dog toy. Smells horrible when it comes out of the box. Keep it outside until the smell subsides. It took a couple of months but much better. We've had the "soccer ball" equivalent of this for 2 years. I can verify that they hold up, but don't leave your dog unsupervised or they may chew through it. It's a play toy, not a chew toy.

VERY DURABLE !!!
This jolly ball has been a staple in my home dog boarding/ daycare business. I have one in each of my 3 play yards. They have held up for many years lying outside year round without the colors fading or material becoming brittle or cracking. They have stayed soft, maintained their shape & color, and been a favorite toy for both small & large dogs. I have a small 12 lb dog that likes to fetch this ball & play tug (which is hilarious because it is about as big as the dog). However it is used mostly by my medium / large dogs that absolutely LOVE it! It is definitely a favorite in the herding breed line, like border collies. While it is extremely durable and super tough and holds up to many teeth puncture marks, it is not indestructible. I have had to replace one of these over the last 3 years that 2 large dogs were able to tear in half after playing tug of war with it for too long. I would recommend not leaving it unattended as a play toy with large dogs unless you are there to monitor. This would make an excellent gift for almost any medium - extra large dog who likes to fetch or retrieve! These have been worth every penny spent for me!
