A consistently good culture producing a tangy yogurt.
I bought a Euro Cuisine yogurt maker back in late 2008 and used it routinely for many years. The last time I bought the Euro Cuisine culture, however, was back in 2011. About two years later, I got away from making my own yogurt. Decided to try it out again, and glad I did. The packaging and even the product itself seem to have changed a little. It's even better now. I made my first batch yesterday and it came out great. It is so much better than the yogurt I've been buying at the grocery store, even though that yogurt is Greek, organic and nonfat. But it's still too sweet and tastes more like vanilla pudding than vanilla yogurt. This homemade stuff is nice and tangy with just the right amount of sweetness to it. The yogurt firmed up very nicely (I always add a little nonfat powdered milk to ensure firmness). I'm going to have to make another batch very soon because those seven little jars will not be lasting long. Update 9-5-2017: I decided to try another brand, a brand that is often seen here and even at health food stores. Yesterday, I made a batch. I noticed it took a lot longer for the yogurt to begin to 'set' and for roughly nine hours I was worried that the yogurt culture was bad and would not work. By twelve hours, though, the milk had solidified into yogurt. Sort of. I tasted it this morning after chilling the yogurt overnight and it is bland beyond words. It's like eating pudding-milk without even much milk taste. I can't even taste the vanilla extract that I flavored the milk with. The consistency is nice, very smooth, not runny (a little bit of whey on top, not much) but it is so bland. I guess I got used to Euro Cuisine's tangy flavor. I much prefer the tangy and yes, strong flavor to this 'nothing' yogurt. I won't name the product and I didn't buy it here on Amazon although Amazon does sell it. Now I understand why some reviewers here find Euro Cuisine's yogurt culture too strong. I guess it's all about preference and what you get used to. I won't be experimenting ever again. Recommend!

Great for making yogurt in the Instant Pot
I use 2 packets per gallon of milk to make yogurt in my Instant Pot. I love the flavor and ease.

Great Tangy Homemade Greek Yogurt!
Great Starter for making yogurt! I have been using this starter now for over a year and it has worked wonderfully every time. After I have heated the milk to 185 degrees Fahrenheit, brought it back down to 115, and then added the starter, I place the mix in a bowl and place it on a heating pad on low overnight. In the morning, I have great tangy homemade yogurt. If I really want to thicken it up and make it Greek style, I use the Euro Cuisine Greek yogurt maker or cheese cloth to strain some of the water out for a very nice thick tangy Greek yogurt. Once you successfully get the hang of making homemade yogurt, you will never go back to store bought again. I usually freeze the rest of the starter packets since I can use 1 packet to make first generation yogurt and then use that yogurt to make several generations of yogurt after that. A 10 pack supply of yogurt starter lasts me over a year. I just wished Amazon would publish the current expiry date of their food products that they are shipping out, on their product page so that the consumer had a better idea of what they were receiving, yet that issue does not take away from the awesomeness of this product at all.

Tastes good but…
No where on this page does it say this yogurt starter needs to be refrigerated. It was delivered in an envelope without refrigeration, but on the back of the box it says “keep refrigerated.” Apparently the cultures can bloom and cause a yogurt fail, which may explain why my first batch is on the runny side. That said, it has a very nice, slightly tangy taste. I’d give the flavor 5 stars, but took off a star for not disclosing the need for refrigeration.

Quality Starter
High quality yogurt starter that has consistently produced results. Does not contain pectin. Starter packets contain sucrose, and I found that when I re-used a culture from one batch of yogurt to the next adding a tsp sugar helped create firmer yogurt. Yogurt is very sour and strong in flavor. Firms to slightly softer than Dannon plain yogurt after 8 hours of culturing. Yogurt is a perfect match for Mediterranean and Indian dishes, but may require some sugar to mix with fruit effectively. I have successfully made both whole milk and skim milk yogurt with this starter. Whole milk was considerably firmer and easier to use in cooking. Consider adding pectin if using skim milk if you intend to eat it out of the cup.

a miserable failure
I have been making fabulous dairy yogurt for many years with this brand. This is supposed to work with non-dairy milk, but it has failed miserably. It does not work whatsoever.

This starter makes a nice tangy yogurt with my Eurocuisine maker. To make it as thick as I can I heat the milk, cool it according to instructions, add the starter and 4 or 5 tbsp of powdered skim milk, a tbsp of maple syrup and let it incubate for about 11 hours. It's fairy thick and very good on fresh fruit or with a tsp of jam added to it. Unfortunately it seems pretty expensive. I have tried using a jar of the previous batch instead, but it tends to curdle a bit and is not as tangy.

I made my yogurt in the instant pot and not 1 batched turned out. It was just watered down milk. I went back over everything to see if I made a mistake somewhere but, I didn't. I've made Greek yogurt exactly the same and every single batch I made turned out flawless and tasted good. I would not purchased this again and I would not recommend this.
