I specifically purchased this toilet plunger because irrespective of whether the handle is wood or plastic, it's secured by a screw at the base of the handle section. That's important to me because while this type of plunger works very well the first thing that will happen is that a conventional tee handle will separate from the pole-type section. It can be used without a tee handle but it's a bit more awkward to use and you're more likely to get your gloves wet or a splash over the top of the gloves.
