Useful device for a low price
It is a simple amplifier. Useful for people with hearing loss. It amplifies background noises also, but that's to be expected in a device so inexpensive. For reference, people doing your audiometry will recommend hearing aids costing 8,000 to 45,000 (for a pair.)
