Review: A Worthwhile Purchase - First off, I am a fan of The Elder Scrolls series, but with that comes a higher standard and some familiarity with previous entries. Overview: This RPG is the latest entry into The Elder Scrolls series (not counting the recently announced TES V:Skyrim). Some things have improved from the previous entries and some have not, albeit any Elder Scrolls fan would be doing themselves a disfavor by skipping this entry. Combat is fairly fluid, although some of the more chaotic fights feel too chaotic if you are not careful or well prepared. The "generic" character build returns, where you pick what you want for your traits, and play however you wish. So, no traditional classes, but you can make one if you so choose. The game is pretty expansive with plenty to see and do. There is fast travel, so do not wonder if all that space will mean 3 hours of walking just to get loot to a city. The story seems less "interesting" than Morrowind, but still a decent story compared to other RPGs out there. The Good: If you want to wander aimlessly for hours exploring instead of actually playing the game, then this is the game for you. Their are few "time based" quests, so you could basically play through the tutorial and be on your way. I have played the game's main quest line from start to finish and barely scratched the surface of places to go and see. I have put in 50+ hours into just the main story, and that is not including all the random quests, the guild quests, or exploring the vast number of dungeons. The Bad: Some random glitches can cause a few quests to be a tad frustrating. When you have an AI companion, they are not the brightest in the bunch, even so far as to not jump up easy to clear obstacles in caves where that is the only means to continue down the path. The AI will either run in futility towards you or try an alternate path, which may not be the safest. In most cases, this will not ruin the quest or explorations, but don't expect them to always be where you want them. The Ugly: The only bug/glitch that could be potentially ruin your game play is rarely the AI does not follow their "schedule" correctly (most have a pattern of being at work/eating/visiting/sleeping) so it can become difficult to complete certain tasks or to get around unnoticed for you Rogue types. However, I have played through the Assassin and Thieves Guild Quests without any real issues (see The Bad for the one potential annoyance). Final Word: If you want a game to last you for a good while, then this game is worth picking up. It comes with both major expansions and for the price, this game is an excellent value.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: does the ps3 goty edition come with a map?**
A: The confusion over whether or not the GOTY edition includes a map is coming from two near identical releases of the game - a "Game of the Year Edition" and a "Greatest Hits: Game of the Year Edition". One has the map, one doesn't, and people are mixing up the two versions in their replies here. If you want an edition with a map:The original game was released in a white case, with the map included (you can see an example here): http://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Elder-Scrolls-IV-Oblivion-Sony-PlayStation-3-2007-complete-w-map-/162161989527?hash=item25c19b9797:g:YhwAAOSwc1FXX3HYThe "Game of the Year Edition" was released next, and included the game manual and map that you mention. There is NO red case or "Greatest Hits" red stripe on this version, which you can see here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Elder-Scrolls-IV-Oblivion-Game-of-the-Year-Edition-PS3-NEVER-PLAYED-/282126848436?hash=item41b01211b4:g:~rMAAOSw6n5Xp7~fThen Bethesda released the "Greatest Hits" re-release of the "Game of the Year Edition". This is the one in this Amazon listing, the one with the red case. Unfortunately, Greatest Hits editions of popular PS3 games tend to not have the cool game manuals/artwork/extras, because it's a budget edition, released many years after the original game came out. This version has the game, the red case with the cover, and a little pamphlet inside that's basically just an install manual (not what you'd think of as an actual game manual). You can see an opened version here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Elder-Scrolls-IV-Oblivion-Sony-PlayStation-3-2007-/131873199073?hash=item1eb44153e1:g:JBUAAOSwyDxXgbUZIf you want the map, you definitely need the original release OR the Game of the Year Edition - do NOT buy one with a red case; it won't have it.Hope this helps clear up the confusion! Good luck adventuring in Tamriel!

**Q: does this version have trophies**
A: Hello,I am sorry it does not have trophies on the ps3 version. I do know that it does have achievements on the Xbox360 version. I am not sure about the PC version. Have a good day!

**Q: Is this game suitable for a 12 year old?**
A: It depends on what you're comfortable with said 12 year old playing...it has some blood, violence and some alcohol usage. Sexual content is very low if any at all. The game was originally rated T for teen.

**Q: Just bought the game. i heard it's supposed to have more expansions rather than just the two listed here. can i buy the others on the ps store?**
A: I own the game on PS3 and Steam. The Steam version includes more content, which is not available for download on PS3. If you have a laptop or a pc, buy the Steam version.
