As much as people complain, I have one of these and it isn't that big. You can also get a USB-C male to USB-C female extension cable and keep the adaptor away from the camera. For me the ability to charge while using an external MIC is better than having a small adaptor... **Q: This is a $50 part. Why the 400% markup? I mean that's not terrible but it feels like an after-market kick in the shin to me.As I'm editing a video I now see that this mic adapter was slightly unplugged from the gopro and i've lost all of my audio. Now that's my fault I guess. Still terrible. Although I do find the plug in to be kind of loose. I'm talking a few thou off of a smooth satisfying fit. The connection wobbles and it just doesn't feel good. There is no other option to convert audio without this device. Relating back to the 50 dollar kick in the shin.Go Pro. Guys if you're listening I don't care if you have to make the next go pro twice as large I would still buy it if I could just plug in a microphone without having to buy this adapter. I really hope the age of making devices smaller and smaller is over. I don't care if its the size of a Gameboy color. I buy your cameras because they take more of a beating than my DSLR. That and I really like your passion for 60fps.. I think you are lacking in universal simplicity when it comes to this part. I reluctantly bought this. I use it to connect the line out of my Zoom Q3 HD and H8 cameras using a 3.5 mm stereo cable to my GoPro 11 Black. It even charges the GoPro while attached. I like the image from the GoPro 11 better than the Zoom’s but the Zoom mics provide better audio than the GoPro’s and are convenient to take on the road. As long as I set the line out audio output to 50% on the Zoom cameras, I do not experience any clipping either . While the GoPro’s internal mic provides decent audio, the audio quality and stereo imaging are enhanced greatly using this device.Update: I think this issue is intermittent but I noticed that sometimes the stereo audio would be summed to mono. The workaround I found was to follow a simple process of 1. Power up the GoPro, 2. Plug in the Media Mod, 3. Plug in the mics, 4. Plug in the power for the Media Mod. This seems to work all the time. I love this Media Mod now. With the Zoom mics from the other cameras, it makes a simple, compact solution for live streaming and even for capturing high quality recordings of my piano performances. The Media Mod is a no brainer if you are a musician looking to capture decent quality audio for your music videos. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Product *by on Reviewed in the United States August 1, 2026* If you want to use an external microphone with your GoPro, this is the adapter to get. It worked exactly as expected and the audio quality was much better than the built-in mic.
