Overall Picture Quality Upgrade + YouTube 4K
Connected to a 2013 UN65F9000. Upgrades: •Tizen Operating System •Overall noticeable picture quality improvement on all sources •Near 4K quality w/ Blu-Ray •Near 4K quality w/ DirecTV •YouTube 4K Nearly all positives regarding the 2015 Evolution Kit upgrade. All video sources display a noticeably cleaner, higher quality picture. Kit was easy to install. Only negative: TV settings weren't saved despite utilizing UHD Evolution Kit Backup feature as instructed. •YouTube - App now displays in 4K. Spectacular quality from true 4K sources! •DirecTV - Its upconverted 1080i/1080p picture has never looked purer - nearly free of any minor pixelation or artifacts. NFL Football has never looked more detailed. Outstanding! Limited 4K UHD content looks spectacular, especially demos! •Samsung UHD Video Pack - 4K content is top notch! Downloaded M-GO UHD HDR movies looked pristine, especially Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. •Blu-Ray discs - Playback quality is even more enhanced, near 4K quality. •4K camcorder videos- I own a 4K camcorder. Videos played via USB look richer, deeper, more detailed than ever. Must have apps w/ 4K content: •YouTube 4K - Free 4K content galore! Nature, concerts, demos, long running videos, etc. •UltraFlix - Largest selection of 4K rentals; movies, documentaries, sports, concerts, etc. •M-GO - 4K UHD movies for rent and purchase w/ VIDITY download (via Samsung UHD Video Pack). •Netflix - 4K original series, movies and nature features. •Amazon Video - 4K original series and 4K movies and nature features. •DirecTV 4K UHD - A limited number of content for rent, plus a few free demos. A 4K UHDTV is a sizable investment. In order to maintain the best possible picture quality and latest technology, $399 for a SEK-3500U Evolution Kit with visually noticeable improvements is a worthwhile upgrade. No disappointments at all, just better overall quality and peak performance!

Wow! Great upgrade!
I'm not exactly sure why the negative reviews, installing was easy, and now my picture looks amazing and is showing lots of improvements. It will not remember anything prior other than network information because it needs that to update and install. So that means prior calibration, and streaming services will need to be done again. That's because it's almost like getting a new TV, which is essentially the point of an evolution kit. So from the start I noticed the color accuracy has improved, as well as detail. It didn't blow my socks off, but I knew instantly there was a difference. What did blow my socks off was the 3D, and it dramatically improved it, because 2D to 3D just wasn't showing depth, and just wasn't flying off the screen like I would like. After the update, it looks really good. This is really worth the buy, especially since Samsung announced that this will be the last evolution kit they produce for the time being. That's because they've reached a point where they can't really upgrade anything else, with this update you have the newest HDMI, the new Tizen browser, new remote, 8 processors, upgraded picture and 3D and the biggest and the real reason you should get this is HDR support. 4K UHD Blu Rays will be in HDR, which means much brighter brights and darker black levels, expanded color, or as Samsung put it, it's better. If you really want to get the best out of your Samsung 2013-14 4K TV, then this update is a must have!

Feels more like a downgrade.
The concept of of "Upgrading" your expensive TV by replacing the bulk of the electronics in a single module is very appealing. Unfortunately, this device makes your TV unusable. First, the interface goes to a very basic one. All of the menus are impossible to find. This is in part caused by the new remote that works similar to a Nintendo Wii controller with a pointer that you move around the screen. And the old remote looses many of its functions if you want to continue to use it. Buttons like DVR are missing and replaced by an on-screen menu that is very hard to find. The kit does add 4K content support but every other interaction with the TV feels like a downgrade. Save your money on this one.

after a good 30min, decided to call support
Yeesh, frustrating. Wish Samsung thought this out through their product line. Installation was awful, followed instructions, even watched a few Youtube vids on how to do it. Was hoping I could get the latest codecs and support, that's why I took the plunge. Followed instructions per the letter, when it came to load my saved settings, went through the proscribed process, then, the screen started to dim and dim and dim to the point where I couldn't see the progress of the update process. Was thinking I just needed to wait, after a good 30min, decided to call support. Chat support had me unplug the TV, wait and plug it back in. Picture came back, but NONE of my settings transferred over. Had to re-enter my wifi, even that took multiple tries, re-enter my netflix, vudu, amazon...etc... user info. Lost my bookmarks, will have to recreate those as well. So after going through all that, was it worth it? Well, I'm a stickler for blacks, when you have a rounded value range the picture looks great. And I have to admit, I do notice an improvement in color depth and in the blacks. Watched a 3-d movie to see improvement, and the broader value range did seem to make things pop out. Would I recommend this product? Well, be cautioned, your setup compared to mine may be quite different depending on the TV you have. Would I buy it again? Sort of undecided, I do notice improvement, but Samsung needs to get their **it together if they're going this route.

Smart Hub Issue/Update
TV un65hu9000, ATT Uverse, Asus Router and 3500 Evo Kit addition. The Picture improvement and new Icons and remote are a big improvement. Would be five star review except for Smart Hub issue. Multi link will not work unless Smart Hub is working apps will not update I get preloaded apps but can not down load new ones. The only thing that works is changing the country code to a country other than the United States. I have access to apps for that country and Multi Link works and the rest of the TV works as expected. Switching back to the US Smart Hub and Multi Link wont work. Tech support could not resolve the issue and sent the issue to a higher level so I'm on call back. I'm happy with the picture and everything else works fine I hope they can fix it. Issue resolved three support techs, three weeks later it seem there was an App hanging up and blocking the updates now all is working fine. Multi-link now work Apps down load. I like the new layout easy access to basic functions without having to go into the menu, adding a star.

BUY IT!
OMG! My 2014 60" is now More Awesomer (Yeah! That's a word!) than it was before! Biggest Improvement? The Processor! My Plex HD Movies, for whatever reason, would go silent just before some Major Bass (Booms) come in play. With this Kit, that has stopped. I thought I was going to have to Re-Rip all my movies in different Audio. Netflix 4K is Super Sharp! (I'm on a 50Mbs Comcast connection). The TV itself, under DirecTV looks Sharper and movement is even MORE fluid that before. I mean, even Major Motion pictures look like they've been shot with Camcorders. (I don't know if that's good or bad, but the Refresh rate is above Par! I love it!) Looks like real life and not 24fps movies. I can't explain. JUST BUY IT! Worth Every Penny. Once the Xbox One Slim comes out, I'll be right back on here to tell you how 4K HD Bluray, via Xbox One S, looks. I'm going with XBox One S since it's going to be $100 cheaper than Samsung 4K HD Bluray player. And I'm an Xboxer. (And yeah, I'll go to Scorpio as well.) Cons? Not Wireless, but I didn't use that to begin with, as I use Plex and love connected speeds. EDIT: BTW, you know your Applications on the 2014 models are going away and nothing new seems to be added. GET THIS! A TON of apps, games and such are on this. Plex is the same, but out of nowhere I now can choose from what seems like 100's of apps/games and such.

Overall a nice upgrade to mu UH8550
Overall a nice upgrade to mu UH8550. Is it worth the price that depends, on the person and their usage. For me the ability to send 5.1 over ARC is a big benefit since my receiver doesn't support HDMI 2.0 or HDCP 2.2. The blacks on my Tv seem darker, and colors brighter, but that could be just me since I don't have a meter. The biggest improvement I've seen with it is watching in 3D. The picture seems to have a lot more depth, and a lot less cross talk then prior to installation. Also motion processing seems to be improved. There has been some talk of my Tv supporting HDR, but that is still unknown at this point. Currently it doesn't show HDR for Amazon like the 2015 Tv's do. Should you buy it? Like I said it depends on you. If you just use your Tv to watch cable, and haven't messed with your Tv settings then I'd hold off on getting it. If you like to try to get the best out of your panel, or are looking forward to UHD Blu-ray then I would say it is a great buy. Besides if you get it and don't see an improvement you always have Amazons amazing return policy to fall back on.

A worthwile upgrade for the UN65F9000AFXZA
I bought this to upgrade a UN65F900AFXZA TV. We still had the original one connect box since we hadn't upgraded to the 2500U. I read the reviews and was a little concerned about the issues that others reported with gaming consoles, but we have experienced none of those issues. My wife & son have PS3, PS4 and WII all connected and they all work fine. We all agree that there is a definite picture improvement since the upgrade. In addition a couple of issues I had with the original one connect have cleared up. The first is that up-converted video that had bright red colors were jittery on the screen - this is no longer an issue. Likewise I was getting a frequent message that the network cable was disconnected when it wasn't - this I also gone. All in all I think it was a worthwhile investment. The new remote is easier to use with the point & click ability, which makes using the on screen keyboard much easier to use than the original remote. I followed all the instructions and replaced the original one connect cable with the new one. The only issues I had was that the new one connect seemed to have a problem automatically connecting to the Samsung Air Track HW-F850 that we have. I called Samsung support and they stepped me through a reset, after which everything was fine.
