I have ordered this twice and both times it was for men. I believe the seller made a mistake and put it in for women.

Is this for women ? I thought it was for men

It is actually marketed towards men and women. Almost every tom ford fragrance is ok with either men or women. My wife uses a lot of my tom ford colognes and they smell great. I also happen to wear black orchid which is more towards women.

Is the fragrance close to expiration date?

No. The fragrances are close to expiration date after one year of first use.
