Anand Saigal (Rajesh Khanna), an unusual, interesting man, who lived what remained of his life fully, completely. Treating every living moment as magic, every minute a miracle, every hour a gift. Anand Saigal is a terminally ill, cancer patient, who with his non stop chatter, boisterous humour, and never say die attitude touches the lives of everyone he comes in contact with. His metaphorical search for his long lost friend Murarilal is the high point of the film. One of India’s finest directors, Hrishikesh Mukherjee teams up with Gulzar as lyricist and dialogue writer to give us some of the best lines in Hindi Cinema and some hauntingly lovely songs. It plays on your heartstrings, but in the end you will agree, “Anand lives on”.

Not a real movie
One of the most heart-warming movies from the A team. I have already seen it twice since buying it a week ago and plan to watch it many more times. Best director, best actors, best dialogues, best lyrics, its a dream movie.However I had to take one star away because it is a highly unrealistic and manipulative to extract all the tears from you. It's a fantasy movie. A few years ago I would have given it 5 stars but now realizing that hard working directors and actors don't go for easy wins but rather craft something new. This movie is missing that.

Great classic Hindi movie!
Worth buying this disc for picture clarity! A must buy for any blu ray indian movie collector. Willling to buy more titles.
