Boot material is a plasticized-rubber, so might be difficult to cut. I used a grinder to trim it to the right size. Was able to slip on without using the 4 'pull-tabs'; needed to cut off the tabs so that they do not rub against the rotating wheel. Make sure the metal bands are positioned correctly in the shaft 'groove' prior to tightening. Glue dries within 5 secs per instructions, so need to work quickly when gluing the boot seal closed around the axle. (I glued one side first prior to wrapping around axle.) Was being careful, so repair took longer than I thought; was concerned about cutting too much boot material off. (Again, grinder cutting wheel worked well for me to cut the tough boot material.) Boot has been on 2.5months and still holding up well; checked on it today. I would definitely buy again; much easier than replacing then replacing the entire axle, wheel hub, etc. and any/all problems that may be encountered with that. I imagine that people that had problems with this replacement boot did not follow the instructions, installed improperly, trimmed the boot improperly, or installed the wrong size boot. Review: useless garbage - I have used a fair amount of these over the years on my 4x4 truck because sometimes you don't have the time to disassemble the whole 4wd hub assembly to get the axle out to do it right. The old ones used to be a decent rubber compound with screws that held the two sides together and while it didn't last long, it lasted long enough. This new style is more of a semi-flexible plastic, like a cheap dollar store toy, and you glue the two halves together, problem is...the glue doesn't hold anything but your fingers together! I am very mechanically inclined and do a lot of work on my own cars, that being said, this is one frustrating contraption to install. I ended up using a different glue I had on hand and will see how that goes. The supplied glue is far too thin to work as it should. I cleaned the surface and applied a nice bead of glue, held it together for longer than the recommended time...it still didn't hold. I honestly don't have much hope for this thing doing much good but I can follow up later.
