Really helped my daughter through divorce
I will buy this book again and again. I'll buy it for someone else. I'll buy it for the classroom. It has helped my autistic daughter get through divorce with mom and dad. Sometimes she cried. I think it settled in as we read because there's a part that said "if i miss my dad i can call on the phone" Sometimes she would cry but soon enough as we continued reading it was like she understood.... I truly believe this book helped my daughter grasp something so complex and I feel bad that I didn't buy it at the beginning of our divorce but then again I'm glad she had and still has this book. Every once in a while she'll pull it out and we'll read some of it and she'll flip through all the pages and then she's okay. I feel like this book helped her to be... okay. I'm so thankful. Many many thanks to the author. Many.🌸🏵🌸🌻🌻🌻🌞

Best book about 2 homes!
First book about separation that was age appropriate for my 1.5 year old. It was really well written and kept the baby engaged. I especially love that the dad lives at the top of the apt building bc her dad does! So sweet!

A great book for young kids dealing with separation
This book is very simple and straightforward; it simply lists some differences between living with mommy and living with daddy in an uplifting manner without actually addressing the reasons why there might be two homes. (mommy's house has yellow paint in my room, daddy's house has flowery wallpaper in my room; both houses have a nightlight for me, etc.) The book at the end addresses that no matter the differences between the two houses or which parent the child is with, mommy and daddy love the child no matter which house they are at. It is a great book to normalize the concept of having two homes for the child, especially for very young children who do not really understand the concept of divorce.

Get It
I searched for days to find the perfect books for my kids since I recently went through a divorce. I am so glad I purchased this one for my 5—and 7-year-old. My daughter wants me to read it to her at least once a week. Children's books (along with therapy) have helped my children a lot during this transition.

My kid likes it, so I guess that's worth it.
Edited to add a star. I wasn't particularly impressed at first, but my kid continues to come back to this book even 2 years later. There's a heavy focus on routines & material goods, and IMO not quite enough on meeting needs. Toddlers like their toys, but what they NEED to know developmentally is that they are safe in both places & they will be taken care of and loved in both places. But, as I said, I guess the author struck a balance that worked for my kid. Actually the more I think about it, I kind of want to revise down to 2 stars, BUT I'll leave it at 3 because the lift-the-flap features are nice to keep the child engaged.

So cute! And so relevant to our life coincidentally. Mom has a cat, dad has a dog. Lol dad goes camping. Mom goes to the zoo. Short and simple for my 2 year old.

A great book to read to a young child after parents separate. A positive book that focuses on the parents' and families' love for the child. Playful book with lift-the-flap illustrations.
