The plate that the speaker stands on is 8"x8" . The Plate at the Bottom is 10"X10". a GOOD STURDY STAND, That gives you an overhang. You could try them. I filled mine up with sand for extra stability. **Q: Will this stand support my speaker? they are b&w and are 200mm wide but are slightly larger in terms of depth.. there will be overhang but presume ok?** A: It depends on the speaker. I can't remove the feet from my speakers because of a downward firing driver. But, although the speakers are bigger than the platform, the feet fit within it, so I have no problem. If your speaker doesn't need feet then it should be fine. Assembly is easy, if a little fiddly, and the one tool required is supplied along with all the necessary components. Top and bottom of the uprights end up sealed with two plastic caps that clip into place. The weight of whatever you put on the stands is carried by an internal steel spindle, which screws into the top glass plate. The base plate is attached with a single bolt. There is nothing to attach a speaker directly to the top plate. Anti slip stick ons are supplied and do a good job. But this is maybe not good enough in households where small children might push against the speaker. The other small issue is the screw in points for the base plate. The thread is not machined perfectly, and so one or more fittings may end up being half to one millimetre different. Not a problem for carpets, but slightly less stable for wooden or laminate floors. The soft plastic floor protectors that are included eliminate this problem, but are also not fixed and rely on pressure from above to keep them in place. Fine, unless whoever is cleaning forgets and tries to push the stands out of the way when vacuuming.
