You will need to update your SYNC 3 software to the latest version (this is free from Ford online). I did this and it instantly added complete CarPlay to my sync 3 system. **Q: Will this work in my 2017 lincoln mkx? i have appleplay already, but water ruined the main usb in my main storage tray. if not, pls give part #** A: If your radio is the stock Lincoln radio and you can connect your phone via a USB port and use apple car play on the car's stereo system then this will work to give you wireless access to car play. If the damaged USB port is the one you used to connect your phone to carplayv then you will have to get that fixed first. That USB module should just pop out and the correct replacement can be installed. I had a 2016 mkx and had to replace mine in the center console. Make sure you get the correct one.
