Best Value Rice Cooker
Have always used rice as the perfect addition to stirfrys, but the ease of use on this machine has me making rice for almost every meal. Have simple selection buttons for White, Brown, Instant Rice and steaming. In short, add the rice, add water and select what you have placed in the cooker, then 'Start'. That's everything to it. Really enjoy using the steaming function for sweet corn. Can fit a couple ears in the steaming basket and it'll be ready to go within 10-12 minutes. And it makes great sweet corn at that. Also easy to clean as the rice bowl and the interior of the lid (which provides the seal) can both be removed. There is also a condensation reservoir on the back which drains excess liquid. Great purchase as both my roommate and I have been getting lots of use (and delicious rice) from it.

Cheap. Kitchen workhorse. Smallish size if counter space is at a premium.
Works great. I'm awful at making rice in a pot, and this has saved me lots of time and effort. Perfect rice every time. Just be sure you don't mix processed rice with whole grain, as they should be cooked separately on their respective settings. Mixing in one cook session will net you either mushy white rice or crunchy whole grain. Still, that's user error and not a problem with the rice cooker. They have different settings for a reason, and each setting works great with its intended rice types. Have started experimenting with other uses for it recently. I use it to steam (instead of boil) my eggs, and am exploring the world of steamed vegetables

Great rice at ANY price!
Cooks the best rice we've ever had. We use Uncle Ben's Converted original rice. Use the instructions on the package for how much of everything to put in. Close the lid and hit WHITE RICE. 45 minutes later you have rice. No 60 second window of opportunity between crunchy, undercooked rice and burnt, died out rice like you get cooking it in a pan. This unit keeps it perfect for quite awhile. One tip: Stir the ingredients! Before you seal the lid, stir everything up. That may seem obvious....and it is in hindsight. Build quality is about what you'd expect at this surprisingly low price, but it is amazing at cooking rice. Spend a lot more to impress your friends if you want, but if you want great rice, this is the one.

Great rice cooker, no mess, just works
I am truly surprised. Been a big zojirushi fan but I cannot justify it's price (or features) anymore. In the past few years, I tried many other rice cookers and they performed miserably This one though cooks white rice faster/better and with no mess inside or outside. Just works and keeps rice warm after cooking. Couple of areas of improvement: The lid mechanism. It may be just mine but it does not seem to be properly aligned. Does not close easily just pushing it straight down. Wish it also had a retractable cord. Since I got it recently, cannot say how long it will last. Something like this should last for 10+ years. We will see. I also have not used other functions like brown rice.

Great rice cooker, with nice QoL touches.
It's a great rice cooker. Not really sure what the difference is between the version with a steamer basket and without. I purchased the one without, and it still comes with a steamer "basket", just not quite like the one shown in the pictures for the steamer basket version-but, still a similar size...it has holes on the bottom, but no slits on the side. Also, there's a nice little touch I'd never even thought of until using this rice cooker. The hinge has a clear plastic "cover". This collects/traps condensation that falls down the lid when you open the rice cooker. You can snap the "cover" off, and empty it easily, then snap it back on. I have no idea why this impressed me so much, but it did. :/

Great buy! Deffinately got my money’s worth!
Use this product at least 3 times a week! Love it! Cooks rice perfectly!! Easy to use and easy clean up. I only wish I could buy a replacement of the plastic attachement that collects the water on the side (mine broke through no fault of my own)

Cheaply built pot
This pot is not a great deal. I bought it and in about a year, it just stopped working even though I took very good care of it. I'm the only user, but it just stopped working. My sisters have had other brands for several years now, and their pots still work vrry efficiently. Hamilton Beach did not build this pot well. Dont purchase it. I will stay far from this pot.

My wife has been using this easily and it does the job. My wife cooks rice every day, so my only concern is how this will perform over the long run. I believe our last Hamilton Beach rice cooker lasted for only a couple years which was on par with the Black and Decker (cheap and small) rice cooker. I hope this one can last longer! I will update this to a 2 star if it doesn't last for at least 2 years (we have gone through 2 Black and Decker and one Hamilton Beach rice cookers in the past five years cooking rice every day). This is a great size and has been doing it's job very well since I bought it in September 2023 (it is January 2024 when I wrote this review).

I usually use this rice cooker to cook, well, rise, and sometimes for steaming veggies. I am impressed with it's performance; it saved me a lot of time and hassle, and I can never imagine cooking again without it. UPDATE: So I had the rice cooker for about 6 months now and it's as good as ever, but I managed to damage one of its parts. The cooker has a plastic reservoir container attached to its lid, which holds accumulated condensed water. Somehow, I managed to remove the lid, drop it in the cooker while it's cooking and forget it there. By the time I discovered the piece of plastic, it had already been deformed by the heat. The piece of plastic was not on Hamilton Beach's accessory replacement, because really who would think that something can happen to that thing, under normal use. Anyway, I contacted Hamilton Beach, and they said that they don't have it, but they said they will look to see if they can find something. Sure enough few days later they found the part from a scrapped unit, and they shipped it to me on expedite shipping, all for free, despite the fact that I told them that the piece of plastic was damaged because of my own negligence and not because of the product itself. So overall, I am impressed with the rice cooker and Hamilton Beach's customer service. I will surely buy more of their products in the future and recommend them to others.

I purchased the Hamilton Beach Rice and Hot Cereal Cooker (10-cup uncooked / 20-cup cooked) back in January 2021, and I used it consistently up until March 2025. This little machine handled 3 full cooking cycles a day—everything from biriyani and curry to plain rice and other dishes. For a mid-priced rice cooker, the durability honestly impressed me. The cooking quality was always reliable. Rice came out fluffy, biriyani cooked evenly, and the keep-warm function never burned the food. I also liked the size—it was perfect for both small meals and batch cooking. After four years of heavy, daily use, I finally had to throw it out because the bottom cracked while moving houses. Until that moment, it still worked perfectly. Overall: If you need an affordable rice cooker that can handle heavy use, this one is definitely worth it. It gave me four strong years of constant cooking, which is more than I expected at this price point. My only suggestion is to handle it carefully during moves, as the base can be sensitive. Would I buy it again? Yes.
