Magnifying Glass with Light, Double-Layer Glass Lens Handheld Large Magnifying Glass 12 LED Lighted Magnifier for Seniors Reading, Coins, Jewelry, Close Working

This is a quality hand held magnifying glass, with an actual glass lens,12 cool white, very bright LED switchable on/off lights, on the underside to aid visibility. It requires two AA batteries (not included) and are to be housed in the handle. The body/frame is made from a durable white plastic with black trim. See the photographs. Claiming to be 30x (magnification?), all I can say is that this is the best hand held magnifying glass that I have used, with truly impressive magnification. The quality and effectiveness belies the price, which is competitive indeed. The light switch on the front of the handle, is ribbed for those with less dexterity than most. Due to using quality glass, instead of the now more common plastic for the lens, plus the useful batteries for occasional/additional illumination, gives this magnifier slightly more weight in the hand. Despite using prescription reading glasses, I still need extra help for poor quality print and the tiny writing used on food labels. This is my 'go to' magnifying glass in all cases. In fact, I bought an extra one for a neighbour who has failing eye sight and prefers this magnifying glass, above all his others. The cool white LED lights are a definite boon to clarity of vision. The famous London Baker Street detective, would clearly approve using one of these to see what's on, when he is still in the dark following a LED, I mean lead.

I bought this magnifying glass mainly to read food labels, as we have allergies in the house and the print on ingredients seems to get smaller every year. I also use it occasionally for the fine print on electronic devices. For these tasks it works very well, but I’m giving it four stars because I simply don’t believe it offers anything close to 30× magnification — I would say it’s more like three-times magnification in real-world use. The clarity at this level of magnification is very good. When you hold the lens directly over the text at 90 degrees, it stays clear across the entire viewing area. If you tilt the lens or move your eyes off-centre, you do start to see some distortion at the edges, and the “sweet spot” moves more towards the centre. The focal distance is short too — once you move more than around five centimetres away from the object, the sharpness drops towards the middle. The LEDs are bright and well spaced, and they do a good job of illuminating the whole viewing area evenly. The handle is comfortable and I don’t find the weight to be an issue. With batteries fitted it weighs around 335g, which feels solid rather than heavy, although I don’t use it for extended periods. The battery compartment is definitely a tricky one. Getting it open and closed takes a bit of effort and may be difficult for older hands, but once everything is in place the unit works perfectly. My small negative is simply that the magnification is nowhere near 30×, and because of that the focal distance is short. But for reading labels, ingredients and fine-print markings, it works exactly as I needed. I’ve included two photos: one showing the on/off switch on top, and one showing the underside with the LEDs illuminated so you can see the even spacing around the lens. Hope this helps

Excellent magnifying glass, light up well.

first impressions. It does magnify. Although, maybe 30x is too extreme (This makes for small view that needs careful placement , images distort rapidly towards the outside of the glass). The light does work. The unit is fairly weighty. For me that's not such a big issue. My 90 year old mum though, may make me regret giving this to her. The battery compartment is super difficult to open and close. Either there's a technique or it requires using the ultimate positioning. All I know is my mum won't stand a chance. Where I usually do not experience any issues changing batteries... this was a little difficult to open, and closing was an almighty struggle. I literally spent forever trying to close it and then suddenly, with little effort, it just popped shut???

Great magnifier and not cluttered with other magnification rates. Good illumination, makes it easy for me to read busy maps and small print. It is a bit hefty, but because of the real glass lens it is a good thing. Comfortable handle and changing batteries is easy.

Good product but rather heavy.

This magnafier is powerful and led's brilliant. I use it for tiny writing on adaptors and computers that can't be read with the naked eye. The lights make it. I was so happy I bought one as a gift.

O produto está muito longe de ampliar como promete, 30 vezes. De jeito nenhum. Talvez umas 5 ou 8 vezes. O cabo onde ficam as pilhas fica estalando como se algo não estivesse bem encaixado. Às vezes dá um mau contato na hora de ligar. As luzes LED ajudam muito. Talvez a minha deficiência visual esteja muito avançada para conseguir melhores resultados com essa lupa, mas está ajudando bem. Se o diâmetro fosse maior, para mim seria melhor, mesmo que fique mais pesada.

Have bought 3 of these, 2 for home and 1 for an elderly friend. This magnifier works great especially with the built in lights. I've even dropped one of them 3 or 4 times. It fall apart but is easy to put back together...and keeps working! Highly recommend.

right out of the box, the build quality is actually great. the plastics feel sturdy, a good weight in my hands, and the glass looks very clear and gives a good magnification. the magnification advertised as x30 might be off, it is more like x10-15. the light ring works perfectly fine, but the batteries are not included. the lights are very bright and definitely helps with the object you are viewing. good for daily use of reading small texts, catching splinters in my hand, and any habitual viewing of tiny critters in the backyard.
