Great alternative to Brain Age games

*by S***R on Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2011*

I've played this game daily now for about a week. I think the selection of puzzle types is great. As you progress thru the game (over time), the degree of difficulty is ramped up and the "think quotient" that you can earn is higher. For example, if you do well on the number pyramids the first few times you play that puzzle type, you'll soon find that the pyramids you are given get larger and there are more intermediate numbers you have to deduce before getting to the answer. So the puzzles may take you longer and you'd think that you'll never beat your previous score, since you are slower, but the degree of difficulty is higher and in fact, your score can go up dramatically. As another reviewer pointed out, you can't choose your difficulty level. It seems that the game adjusts the difficulty based on your previous results. Once I noticed that happening, I found myself satisfied with the new difficulty levels and didn't worry about not being able to pick the level myself.I disagree with the 2 reviewers who stated that the game has wrong answers. I haven't found any. Well, to be honest, I'm terrible at the 3-D "rolling ball ends up where?" puzzles and frequently get wrong answers. I'd like to think the game is getting them wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's just me!I haven't found the instructions to be lacking with one exception. In the "Barter Transaction" puzzle type it wasn't immediately clear to me that you click on the icon that looks like a money bag to submit your answer. Maybe that info is in the manual somewhere--I don't often read those! Other than that, I've had no trouble with the instructions. They seem clear.I am really enjoying the selection of quick puzzle types and find the game a very nice alternative to the Brain Age games. (If only it also had Sudoku...) It is in that same vein though, a "brain training" type game. It's not a game you'll be likely to play for more than 30 minutes or so at a single sitting. For an inexpensive game, I can see myself getting quite of lot of fun out of it.

    challenging game

it may seem easy at first but it remains to be a challenge when you play the nintendo ds game

    a rip-off

*by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2010*

This game is a complete waste of money and does not live up to its description. The instructions about how to play each game are very brief, and they are not helpful in understanding how to solve the puzzles. Some of the correct answers are counted as wrong, too. I wish I could give negative stars to this game, or zero stars at the least. Do not waste your money on this one. At least GameStop has their trade-in program, so this game goes to them.
