Q: Will this melt in my bag when I travel to places with extremely hot climates?

Well... it's fairly hard, but I imagine a lot of things will melt in extremely hot climates. And this product is made from natural products, not synthetics., another thing to consider. If it was constantly in the heat, and never cooled down, then I imagine it will get soft; and probably even melt.

Q: Is it safe for color treated hair?

Since we are trying to reach the broadest array of people with our shampoo bar, we focused on trying to make it as gentle and effective as possible for everyone! Because of that we did not formulate the product with colored hair specifically in mind, while it is reasonable to believe that it would be gentler than many shampoos, which are made from harsh detergents, we do not claim for our product to be "color-safe" is it were.
