This is the only compression sock we know about that is built with a layer of padding on the lower leg and calf that protects from rope burn and other injuries. The difference comes from 168 needlepoint compression construction with a tougher yarn that provides good compression with superior abrasion resistance compared to gym quality compression socks and sleeves. Wow, more than just a pair of socks..

Very good, though expensive
Used for a 21k Spartan race. Very good, comfortable and dried quickly. But expensive.

Shockingly bad
I purchased a pair at OCRWC 2017, and after two runs I was almost through them in the heels. I contacted Mudgear and they were brilliant, saying this is not what they expected of their socks, and they replaced them with a new pair. I only use them for certain OCR races, and this is what the new pair looks like after my 4th race. Again, I am going through both heels. You can see from the socks that they are not worn other than this. I have never had this problem with running socks or football socks at any other OCRs I have competed in. Brilliant customer service, shockingly bad quality socks unfortunately.
