It starts off bright, which is good, but you have to go through all the other modes, via the single button, to switch it off. It has a focussed beam, narrow spread, but there are two things to note: it comes with the instructions for a different torch, which is confusing, and the 18650 battery is sealed inside. The helpful Chinese website emailed me back to confirm this. You cannot change the battery. Ever. That said, it should last several years of charging cycles, is neat, light, and good value for money.
