The Story of Brexit (Ladybirds for Grown-Ups)

Not as hilarious as the mommy books, but funny nonetheless.

Assuming it's possible to laugh about something like that. You know there might be a problem when someone chooses to watch Threads rather than think about Brexit.

An explanation of Brexit in my words.The Government toured around Britain in a big bus, telling people the advantages of turning their backs on Europe. The people, believing that the Government had their best interest at heart, voted to leave. They genuinely thought the NHS would receive millions of pounds in extra funding and all the people that came here, who didn't fit in with indigenous communities 'skin tone' would leave. But of course, the Government lied to the people, for reasons only they know and the result left most turning against the foreigners who stole British Jobs (that's if you believe UKIP of course!). The bitter truth is that these so called foreigners actually helped us during the war and today, work in jobs Brits refuse to do as it's beneath them. Some people chose to see foreigners for who they are, people, like you or I. Now more people are realising the Government lied about what Brexit would offer, it's probably too late to change your mind. The deed is done and Mrs May, the PM will not provide another chance for people to stay in the EU, as if she did, she'd lose the job she claimed she didn't want, but clearly does, as she paid the DUP (a ruthless anti-everything Northern Ireland Party) offer €1bn to keep her job. The moral of the story is be kind to people who are kind to you, regardless of where they're from and don't believe what the Government tell you as they're all as corrupt as each other.

Brexit, of course, is not a laughing matter. The United Kingdom turning its back on the world to "go it alone" is an act of self harm that will take a long time to recover from, if indeed we ever do. Ladybird understand this and have published this, tongue in cheek, stiff upper lip volume that pokes fun at the Little Englanders who seriously think that turning away from the richest free-trade agreement in the world will somehow make the United Kingdom a more prosperous place. A high price to pay for a blue passport (which will be made in France). Still, the older generation know better; luckily for them they have less time to live with the consequences of their actions.

I bought this to cheer myself up as we hurtle toward the abyss but instead it made me more depressed than ever. It's just too accurate.

Costs more than a pound per minute of reading. Finishes after the foreword. Do not waste your money on this.

For those as disgusted with brexit as I am this book is right on the money. It even actually manages to raise a smile when talking about a topic that will completely screw over this and many generations to come in the UK...thanks again ‘Brexiteers’ even Ladybird books are mocking you!
