Accurate temperature read, works, easy to read and perfect size!

Using this device, I can accurately see what the ground temperature is of my yard is. it is important NOT to use certain herbicides on grass until the ground temperature is 70 or less for 5 days. This thermometer will help you not to make a mistake in early application of sod herbicide. The 5 days is something I read somewhere and so far has proven a reliable measure. This thermometer is excellent for checking that. I would recommend calibrating it by placing in a glass of ice water and seeing that the thermometer shows 32 degrees, the same as the ice water. This can be adjusted with a little nut at the base of the thermometer.

Once calibrated this maintained accuracy throughout the scale. At first I was having trouble, but I was not inserting the tip far enough to get an accurate reading. There is a dimple on the side of the stem which is the minimum insertion length to get an accurate reading. If you do not have it this far inserted, the temperature will read low and be very slow to respond. It works well for its intended purpose of inserting a deep into soil for a accurate reading. I was using it in a liquid that was changing level. When it dropped below the minimum insertion length the temperature would read lower. For the price, I will not return this and keep it. I'm sure it will come in handy for some application in the future.

Works as intended

I have these used out in the garden to monitor soil temperatures on tarped beds and these thermometers work great, are easy to read and accurate. A very worth it purchase.

I like this very much. I use it for my garden and my worm bins. Easy to use and gives fast and accurate readings. Good product at a good price. I would buy this again in the future.

Thermometer seems accurate enough but the face is very small and not readable while standing above it. Not a good choice for this senior. Price was very reasonable and will work fine for many who can bend/ get up and down off ground easily. I use to monitor soil temps for veggie planting. I broke the last one which had a very large face. Can't find one now at a reasonable price
