Review: Just What I Needed! - These traps work well. Here are my top tips to get the rodents removed from your life. Before I start, I need to tell you about my mate Al. He knows a lot of things about a lot of things and when I mentioned to him that I had a mouse in my conservatory he said there will be more than one. I am telling you this so that you too know there will be more than one. Al’s always right. So I bought two traps from B & Q (not the ones I’m reviewing) and within a few short hours I had not one but two mice squished in the traps. However, one of the traps no longer had any chocolate on or near it so unless the mouse in the trap ate it and then decided to commit suicide, I could only conclude there may be more mice mucking around in my conservatory. I reset the traps and put blocks of chocolate on the traps and in the morning the chocolate had gone but the traps had not been sprung. I decided a new strategy was required so I firstly bought the traps I’m reviewing from desertcart and revised my approach which I am going to share with you because it may well be helpful to you and you will have to rebait the traps much less after successful kills. The first thing you need to do is buy a large bar of chocolate – the larger the better. When you get home snap off the top level of chocolate chunks and eat them to make sure they are very tasty; if it’s good enough for you, it’s good enough for your mice. Now put the rest of the bar in the fridge and leave it until the chocolate is nicely chilled. Now get a grater and grate some chocolate onto a plate and use a pastry brush to create a small pile of flakes. Eat some more chocolate from the bar. Take a pinch of flakes and drop it in the hole in the middle of the trap. Use a pencil with a rubber on the end or some similar shaped object and pack the flakes firmly in the trap. Repeat this two or three times until you have a full or nearly full bait station (I don’t know the proper name for the round bait receptacle so this is what I’ve decided to call it). Use the pastry brush to brush the flakes from around the bait station back onto the plate. If you have packed the chocolate tightly, you can turn the trap upside down whilst cleaning it and the chocolate in the bait station will not fall out. Set the trap and place it somewhere on the bottom of the wall where it is obvious the mice have been walking. Eat some more chocolate and if necessary, grate some more chocolate onto the plate so that you can repeat the above process as many times as necessary until all you traps are set and loaded with packed chocolate. You should do this before you go to bed at night since your mice will be active after dark. In the morning, get the chocolate from the fridge and have a few chunks for breakfast. Now look at your traps. Not only should you have caught and killed some mice but you should also see that the packed chocolate remains uneaten. If this is not the case then another mouse other than the one you have caught has eaten the tasty meal that should have been its dead sibling’s if only it had been able to outsmart the trap. So, take the trap outside and release the dead mouse into your bin or of course you could bury it in the garden and say a few words to help it on its way to the Great Mouse Heaven in the Sky. Where the chocolate has not been eaten, you will realise you have a fully loaded trap that can be set again without the need to rebait it. Clever eh? As I mentioned, Al said there will be more than one mouse so you might need to keep setting your traps every night until you get rid of all your rodent infestation. In three nights I have disposed of ten, yes TEN mice. I don’t know if I will trap any more but the traps are staying for the next week at least. If the idea of catching but not immediately killing a mouse bothers you, you might not want to buy these traps. You can’t predict the position of each mouse when it springs the trap and that means some might not die instantly. I had to kill one that was caught just by its mouth. Another was caught by its leg in the night and when I checked the trap in the morning, I had trouble finding it because the mouse had dragged the trap under a cabinet before it died. These traps may not be for everyone but they do the job, they are easy to set and they help you to get rid of a serious problem. Mice will chew through pretty much anything including electrical wires. If you don’t believe me, ask Al.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ It's All About the Bait
*by M***M on 16 November 2019*

Most reasonable mouse traps will work if the bait is correct. And by that I mean more attractive than whatever else is around. And the best overall bait is peanut butter by a country mile. Mice love this stuff. I bought these because a hedgehog house I had close to my house started to be visited by mice. The house was close to my garage so inevitably when not doing the evening SAS raid on hedgehog food they inevitably laid up doggo in my garage nice, warm and dry. Whilst I have no issue with mice the fact is that having them around will be a problem and thus need to be removed with extreme prejudice. So I bought two types of trap. The first type - and more expensive was a close style that I could put into the hedgehog house and ensure Spiney would be safe. The second type - and cheaper - were these which, I could scatter around my garage in order to eliminate the small bandits nicking the hog food. And they work well. As long as they are baited with something interesting - and peanut butter is the best - then they will eventually get nabbed. Unlike rats, mice are a bit stupid and will fall for these types of trap. Easy to set and easy to open and dispose of the mouse as well. Shiny hard plastic so you can clean them simply as well. The price is cheap for a multipack which, you will need. In the end I put eight of these in my garage and two enclosed in the hedgehog house and cleared the mice out in a week.
