Author Brad Thor’s recently released “Spy Master” most certainly is timely to international events and perhaps a view of the future of America’s relationships with Europeans and Russians. Assassinations and bombings are occurring throughout NATO with a group called the People’s Revolutionary Front taking credit, only that there is no such group. U.S. intelligence believes the Russians are behind this, to cause stress among NATO allies, so when Russia makes a move to invade the Baltics, that NATO will not respond, even though the three Baltic countries are members of NATO. And, America certainly does not want to be drawn into a major war. Scott Harvath and his team are sent to Europe to follow clues to learn the Russian intelligence structure that is behind the assassinations and work their way up to the leadership of the group. The action in Norway, Sweden and Kaliningrad is non-stop and the Harvath teams works do discover the Russian cells that have been planted in several countries. This reader appreciates the research, writing ability and suspense that author Thor puts into his novels. Generally, the story is realistic and believable.
