Nice quality fan.
I bought this fan to replace the black magic 3000cfm fan I was running on my 1965 mustang 289. I am really impressed with the quality of this fan. Unlike the flexalite it is almost completely metal and has a sealed water proof motor. It fit my radiator like it was made for it and moves a ton of air. It's hard to tell for sure but it seems to move at least as much if not more air than the black magic fan. It's pretty quiet too. I can hear it kick on if the radio is off but barely. You'll need a relay and temp sensor for the fan as it has no built in sensor. I'm using a kit made by spal for this fan and it works great. Well worth the money and highly recommended! 3-15-15 Over 2 years later and this fan is still running strong. Keeps our 65 mustang nice and cool and has never ran over 200F since it was installed. 11-2-18 The fan relay and gasket are all holding up well. Runs nice and quiet and still keeping our pony nice and cool. Very good quality.

worth the price if you want to run in the heat of summer
I installed this fan, replacing a competitor's fan and found that my car loved it. I have a 63 Chevy Nova sedan with a 283 V8 engine and factory air conditioning. I recently upgraded to an aluminum radiator with a 16" electric fan. I was experiencing overheating, so I decided to purchase the Spal 16" fan. This made a big difference as even the air conditioning was even colder. At 105 degrees of Phoenix heat, the temperature gauge went no more than midway, so I highly recommend one of these fans.

Spal Fan 16"
This fan worked very well for me and even though I ended up going a different way later on, it pulled a lot of air and did the job. Can recommend. Jimmy, Making it work

I like them... but...
I have two of these on a 98 RAM1500 (5.2L), using a custom shroud. One fan is sufficient to maintain temp at idle on a hot Florida day, but dual is a major help with the A/C efficiency, and gives me safety backup if one was to fail. I'm using a Flex-a-lite variable speed controller, so they only run at 60% speed (unless temp rises higher)... this means they run quieter and draw less than typical. Now, for the but... I've been having issues with the drive pin snapping (both fans). The pin breaks on one side of the shaft, and you still have drive via the remaining half of the pin, but you get a vibration (fan disc wobble) when the fans shut down... this wobble worsens with time until the fan hits the casing. SPAL say it is due to an uneven (not flat) mounting surface... I've put a straight-edge over the shroud, and it is flat to within 1/64"... I even fitted the rubber gasket they recommend to solve the issue, but still the drive pins break after about 2 months of use. Whilst SPAL has communicated well, they have not given a technical answer/theory as to how an uneven mounting surface would causes the breakage. SPAL have been very good at supplying warranty parts, but the issue continues... I have to change the drive pins every couple of months. So, yes, I like these fans, but I'm frustrated with the ongoing issue that I have, especially when it does not seem to be common.

Noise
They work good but are extremely loud. Jet engine loud.

This is a radiator fan, not a blanket.
Used this fan in a 1997 Ford Ranger. Used with the SPAL gasket and 4 SPAL mounting flanges, all extra cost. Fits great. Works perfect. Wish it had a low speed option, but in my part of the country, temps over 100F are routine, so no biggie. This fan is heavier than the CCP fans, has proper gage wire for the current (around 20 amps) and feels much more durable. Comes at a premium, but if you're deleting the mechanical fan, you don't want to cheap out on this. Very satisfied.

Spend the money!!!
My 76 Dodge truck with a 360 V/8 began overheating during the Texas summer and during prolonged idling. The temp would climb to 230. I replaced the engine driven fan with a 16 inch, electric puller fan, that I purchased online for $40.00. The "cheapo" fan was advertised at 2475 CFM . It helped a little; however, the temp would still climb to 220 when idling. I swapped my factory replacement brass radiator for a four-core aluminum radiator and it made no difference. I installed the Spal fan (with a true CFM rating of 2020) and now my truck runs between 185 to 190 and it can idle all day. The fan is kind of loud when you standing outside the truck. Not so bad with the motor running or inside the cab. When the fan starts it draws about 20 amps; however, it runs at about 10 amp or a little less. I used a 30 amp fuse and a good relay. The A/C is also much colder. All in all don't trust the cheap fans.
