Carlisle Brass CDG003 Overhead Door Closer (Fixed Size 3), Silver

It’s surprisingly well made for what is actually a good price. Very easy to fit (after re-reading the instructions- yes we’ll worth reading properly the first time). Totally silent smooth operation. Holds an external door firm in strong wind and even closes it against the wind. Has a nice feature to allow you to adjust the speed of closing as the door approaches closed.

The Carlisle Brass CDG003 Overhead Door Closer itself is solid, well-built, and works exactly as expected once fitted. The closing action is smooth and consistent, and the overall build quality feels premium for the price. However, I’ve given it 4 stars instead of 5 for one simple reason: the installation instructions are extremely poor. The diagrams are unclear, the steps are confusing, and the measurements don’t match up well with what you actually see when fitting the unit. It took much longer to install than it should have. If you’re experienced with door hardware, you’ll eventually figure it out — but for most people, the instructions will be frustrating. See attached photo of the instructions so you can see what I mean. Once installed, it works great — just be prepared for a bit of guesswork during setup!

Amazing door closer, great adjustability, easy to install once you figure it out! I installed it and it didn’t open, i worked out that i had the unit upside down, works like a charm now and i love it! Slightly heavy to open but still great! My door is hollow so i did attach it to the wood on the door, not the hollow area

Amazing door closer. Very easy to install, specially with the template. Instruction is easy enough. It took 5 minutes. Adjusting the latch and the closer speed is a piece of cake. It works perfectly. Better than many expensive ones out there.

I think that for anybody who wants one of these, it's probably very good, and unlike many I had no problems with the instructions and fitted it fairly easily. But . . . it was a right pain getting it adjusted so that it worked correctly, and once it was working it required such a hard push to open the door, that my wife couldn't open it. So not for us - taken off and put in my spares box for another day.

Good value. A strong closing force. Sticks out quite a long way so may hit the wall in a corridor sutuation. Looks good quality. The action adjustment screws are a bit coarse. Longevity unknown.

I have always had a problem adjusting these door closers and invariably have to get someone else to set them. This worked straight out of the box with no need for any alterations. Closes the door perfectly, no slamming just a gentle latching. I was replacing a broken one so it was really simple as the holes were in the right place. We are a pub and it's on one of the most used doors, going to the toilets and the smoking area. Had it a couple of months and is still as good as the day I fitted it.

Works well, easy to install. Fair price. Compact size and nice finish. I wouldn't recommend outdoor use.

The sheet provided is bad and complex, they should learn from ikea to provide information over the parts in the box first! No video or good explained steps instruction for installation
