I bought this cheap shredder five years ago — in 2019. After the umpteenth pile of financial documents I pushed through her teeth this afternoon, I marveled at how reliable this little unit is. It just keeps on shredding without any mishaps or choking on the stuff I feed it. It will cut through staples without complaint. I have not tried paper clips or heavier duty fasteners. I think that is asking too much if this cheap machine. It shreds credit cards, but slows down considerably when eating them. This is not NSA-level shredding but I think it is adequate for routine family financial and medical information. I do, however, need a set of needle-nosed pliers when I empty it because wads of paper get wedged into the corners. I pushed it way beyond’s its intended light use when we moved two years ago. I had decades of old records that I no longer had a reason to keep and did not want to pay to move. I am talking about a large attic full of records that I shredded in long sessions over a couple of weeks. I fully expected this little thing would give up the ghost and give me a reason to buy a new, more robust unit. But it swallowed all of the papers without a problem or complaint. I am a retired lawyer and I tend to keep more papers than most but when I ultimately dump them, I am very conscious of shredding anything with information someone could use that could harm me. My wife thinks it’s silly, but I also peel prescription information from medicine bottles and shred them too. Trash haulers (for whom I have a lot of respect) sometimes spill stuff in getting our refuse in its truck, especially when overstuffed bags break. I have found on the street neighbors’ paystubs, tax forms, and yes, even prescription medicine bottles. I have to have my unit dumped every other week during “light” periods. Today, in clearing out two years of documents, I had to empty it twice. I can only relate my experience but I am impressed with how much this cheap little thing has shredded for me and how reliable it’s been.

This shredder is a real workhorse! I have had it for 8 years and it’s still humming away! It’s lasted far longer than any other shredder I’ve had! I couldn’t be happier with it!

I've had a paper shredder for years, but it didn't survive our recent move. So I bought this one. We don't have a lot to shred, so a small one like this is the right size. FEATURES - The feeder slot holds a piece of paper 12" wide, half an inch wider than a standard piece of paper. - It says you can feed 8 sheets at a time, and I guess you can, but it tends to labor when you do. - The instructions also say that you don't have to remove staples before shredding. - There is a slot for shredding plastic credit cards. I haven't tried that yet. - Among the settings is Auto. If you leave it set on Auto, you don't have to keep turning the shredder on and off. - It has a clear plastic stripe down one side, so you can see how full the bin is getting. - Like all home shredders, I've seen, it stops working when the bin gets full. Good safety feature. - The shredding blades are very sharp, but they stop working when the head isn't firmly seated correctly on the bin. MY EXPERIENCE PRO - I love being able to tell how full the bin is getting. When we moved, I shredded a ton of old papers and saved the shred in a moving carton. I use it for packing material at Christmas. - I easily shred four or five sheets at a time. - It's great not to have to remove staples. CON - My last shredder only worked when the shredder head was slotted in place on top of the bin, so it didn't work when you removed the head to empty the bin. That's a good safety feature. This one doesn't have that feature because the shredder head doesn't rest on the bin - it fits very carefully onto it. - Because the head doesn't rest on the bin, it can be harder to remove. - The slider that selects the mode - On, Off, Reverse, Auto - can be hard to set. It took me a while to get it set the way I want it. - The shreds are short but somewhat wider than I'm used to. It would still take a year to reassemble a sheet of paper, but some words are discernible. My shredding needs are fairly minimal, so this works great. For commercial or heavy-duty use, you might want a bigger, stronger one.

Best shredder I've bought. It's a powerhouse. Other shredders always jam but not a single problem with this one so far and I shred everyday. It's quiet, easy to move (on rollers), easy to empty, large capacity and the perfect height. I can keep it under my desk and feed papers easily without wheeling it out. Super handy! I've read some comments about autofeed not working with smaller items like receipts/envelopes. The autofeed works for these, you just have to place it in the middle of the feeder. I highly recommend this shredder.

I have read the manual, set up the shredder, turned it to auto mode and the green light came on. Inserted several pieces of paper and it made a noise and stopped. It hadn't done anything to the paper. Tried one piece of paper, again 1 second of noise then nothing. The paper was A4 so was covering the sensor. Eventually I manage to get it to shred one piece of paper by continuously switching it between auto and forward. There was a small spark near the sensor area every time I changing it from one function to another (not sure if that's meant to happen as its a paper shredder). And to top it off, after finishing 1 piece of paper by switching between the settings there was a slight burning smell.

Pros: Workmanship and materials used are very good. Works great right out of the box Cuts fed items into approximately 1/8in x 1in chips. Great for destroying personal information and making it harder to be stolen. Rated to cut 12 sheets at a time. Tested with12 sheets and it passed with such ease that it makes you feel as though it can handle a few more in the bundle. Cuts credit cards without a hitch Cons: 1. This is not a complaint but an after thought that some may find it to be. The cutter unit is a bit on the heavy side. I am assuming it is because of a larger than normal motor and heavier blades which are the only logical reason for the weight and the 12page rating. Very happy if it is and makes it value for the money.
