A kitchen essential
I’ve gone through my fair share of blenders, but the Oster BPCT02-BA0-000 has truly impressed me. Whether I’m making smoothies, soups, or even crushing ice for cocktails, this blender handles it all with ease. It’s built like a tank, thanks to its stainless steel base and durable glass jar, and it doesn’t feel flimsy like some of the plastic models I’ve used in the past. What I Love Powerful Motor & Ice-Crushing Blades The 600-watt motor is strong enough to blend just about anything. I’ve thrown in frozen fruit, ice cubes, and even nuts, and it blends smoothly without struggling. The stainless steel “Ice Crusher” blade is a standout feature—I’ve made frozen drinks in seconds without leaving behind chunky bits of ice. Durable Glass Jar One of the reasons I chose this model over others is the 5-cup glass jar. Unlike plastic jars that can stain or absorb odors, this one stays crystal clear and is super easy to clean. Plus, it just feels sturdier and more premium. Classic, Timeless Design I love the retro look of this blender. The brushed stainless steel base gives it a sleek, professional feel, and it looks great sitting on my kitchen counter. Simple & Easy to Use Some blenders come with too many complicated settings, but this one keeps it simple with just two speeds. It might not have a dozen presets, but honestly, I’ve never needed more than high and low for everyday blending. Affordable & Reliable For the price, I couldn’t ask for a better blender. It does exactly what I need without unnecessary frills, and it feels like it’s built to last. Oster is a brand I trust, and this blender lives up to their reputation for quality. If you’re looking for a strong, reliable, and no-fuss blender, the Oster is a fantastic choice. It blends like a champ, handles ice with ease, and has a classic, durable design that feels like it will last for years. I use it almost daily, and it’s never let me down.

Two Green Smoothies Every Day - I Love This Blender
I make and drink two 40 ounce raw green veggie-fruit smoothies each and every day (as posted on Youtube). We own a $400 Blendtec, and it does a wonderful job, replacing our previous generation VitaMix which only did a so-so job. The 600 watt, 6-cup Oster Beehive blender produces the same quality of smoothie as our Blendtec, in the same amount of time, and for only $60!!! Unbelievable!!! If you are looking for an affordable smoothie-drink maker, I wholeheartedly recommend this Oster. It blends the ice, frozen fruit, veggies, and greens as well or better as our $400 unit. No issue with lack of power, burning motors, etc. Other Oster Beehive benefits...you can purchase genuine replacement/additional containers in glass or stainless steel for $20 and plastic containers of all sizes for less than $10. Note that Vitamix and Blendtec containers run $150! And since the Oster blade and seal are easily removed and replaced, using, cleaning and maintaining the Oster is 100 times easier than its much more expensive counterparts. And though heavy, the glass container is just too cool. Over time, the plastic Blendtec and Vitamix containers show their age...not so with the Oster. Regarding noise level. The Oster is no louder than our two high priced units. Our Blendtec has the great preset feature. Press the smoothie button and it produces a perfect smoothie. The Oster has one switch, on, off, and pulse. For my smoothies I pulse a couple of times, then let it run for a minute or so. Perfect everytime! Bottom line... Wish I would have tried the Oster prior to purchasing the higher priced units. I would have saved a ton of money. Oh, and the Oster looks retro cool! Note that I purchased the Oster from Amazon, delivered free in four days! Cannot beat the Amazon price and service. Update 9/20/2012: I continue to use the Oster to make two smoothies each day and it is working perfectly. I found that the order you place the ingredients in the container makes a difference. I found this sequence works best: 1: Liquid, 2: Protein Powder (if used), 3: Leafy greens, 4: Fruit/Solid Veggies, 5: Frozen fruit and Ice. I place items 1-3 into the container and run for 10-20 seconds. While blender is running, I chop up the "4" item(s), then I place place items 4 & 5 in container and blend for a minute or so. Works perfectly every time. Update: January 2013 I continue to use this blender every day for my smoothies. I had to sharpen the blades this past week as they just were not cutting it (pun intended). Easy to do if you have a small sharpening stone. If not, a new set with ring nut and seal will set you back a whopping $5. Anyway, the blender keeps ticking and does a great job with my greens, ice, apple, carrot, frozen berry, protein powder smoothie. I now use a different sequence: water, ice, frozen berries, leafy greens, protein powder (pulse a couple of times), apples, carrots (blend). Works great! Still a very happy Oster and Amazon customer. Update: July 2013 I continue to use this blender every day. The wife is also using it. Continues to work great!!! Update: April 2014 Continue to use the Oster, almost daily (jump back and forth with the Blendtec). I found that not using carrots greatly improves the drinkability - smoothness of the smoothies. I also wanted to remark that though the Blendtec produces a slightly smoother smoothie, it contains a lot more air which leads to a bit stomach bloating, belching, etc. The one advantage of the Blendtec is that I can make a slightly larger batch. I also used the Oster (and Blendtec) in a health seminar demonstrating making nut and grain milks. Worked great! One other comment. When making smoothies, I typically dump everything in the container and blend. However, I learned in several smoothie workshops that blending the liquid and greens first, then adding the fruit and hard veggies works best. And I learned to not use carrots!

Excellent Blender
I've had this blender for two years now, and I am very happy with the purchase. I waited 6 years looking for the perfect blender before I purchased this one. My prior department store blenders had all shirked at the effort of blending ice on a regular basis, and eventually turned into glorified ice crushers, but this little blender has been a faithful load beast and blends everything without complaint. It feels substantial and of good quality. The simple toggle switch is all that is necessary for blending everything from soups to smoothies. A mason jar fits well in place of the glass carafe, so I often use the blender to blend spices. It is a loud blender, but it is easy to clean, is powerful and works well, and is a stylish addition to my kitchen. In my opinion, it is an excellent blender, and when I wear mine out, I won't hesitate to purchase another. October 2014: Four years and this blender is still going strong. My blade was getting dull, so I ordered another one for $7 from Amazon. The blender is now like new. It's still loud, so I keep a pair of earplugs nearby. Still a great blender for making my daily green smoothie.

This was a fantastic buy for us
PRO's: This was a fantastic buy for us. We considered the Vitamix and Blentec but were not excited about using Triton plastic that leaches over time. We wanted a glass blender and this was the best product we could find after much research- and at an excellent price point. We have used this 4-5 times per week the past 2 months and it had not disappointed. It doesn't blend sunflower seeds or other tiny hard foods that well because of the blade height but that's not a big deal as we can eat them raw or buy nut butters to add to smoothies instead. We've been making shakes using foods such as peanut butter, frozen fruit, sliced carrots, beets, and apples and it's rare that we find any chunks. We don't remove the peel of fruits because we want the extra fiber and this blender hasn't had difficulty with it. The secret seems to be adding the proper amount of liquid (water, nut milk etc). If there's not enough liquid you'll know because you'll hear the motor but won't see much happening. We've also learned that adding the hardest foods (frozen, carrots) to the bottom of the blender yields the smoothest outcome (and it is very smooth). CONS: A few cons. First the most basic- the oval Oster label on the front of the blender appears to be a stick-on plastic part. A little ghetto but not the worst. Second, though initially this blender appeared to have a slight smell from the motor for several weeks it's not as bad now and we have certainly never seen smoke. Third, the blades are not the easiest to clean- even immediately after blending banana, avocado, peanut butter, chocolate powder and almond milk. Every single time I take the blade out of the glass pitcher, use hot water on full stream and have to get in there with toothpicks. Same goes at certain points for other smoothies. The blades are not well-designed in that regard. Finally, the most annoying thing is the noise level. Some people said it's like a loud hairdryer. I've never in my life used any hairdryer that would come close to how loud this thing is, and I use a hairdryer daily for 20 minutes. This sounds like a jet engine. If I push the start button down to first puree everything and then push it up to finish the smoothie it's a bit better than blending the entire time on the up position in terms of noise. But this thing is loud regardless. I have tried putting it on trivets to absorb the sound, etc. but nothing works. I used to cover my ears and turn it off with my elbow initially. Now I just walk away. So while it's an excellent price and makes a great product, there are a few cons to consider that may break the deal for you!

Still the Best
Great product and still the best option. I previously purchased a "smoothie" blender for a little more than twice what I paid for the Oster Classic Blender. It lasted about three months, broke and was unrepairable. My old standard Oster Classic that is more than 40 years old worked better but I had to repair it. While I waited on the parts I ordered a new classic to have at a different location. Works better and lasts longer. Avoid all the feature laden blenders named after martial arts / projectiles and stick with the Classic, an original that is built better, works better and lasts longer.

No need to spend a fortune on a quality blender!
I'm an avid smoothie-maker. I have 1-2 smoothies per day, every day. When my old Ninja Master Prep reached the end of its lifetime, I started thoroughly researching a replacement. I was willing to spend the $$$ on a BlendTec or Vitamix if thats what was necessary for a quality machine. Then a friend recommended this little gem and I thought for that price, why not try it? There doesn't seem to be anything this blender can't handle. My smoothies are a total mess of fruits, veggies, greens, nuts, seeds, powders, roots etc. This blender blends it all to a perfect smooth consistency, even raw beets, citrus with the rind still on, ginger root, the skin of frozen blueberries. You name it. It makes raw protein powders much more palatable as there is absolutely no grainy texture left. The blender has a heavy-duty metal construction, and a simple on/off/pulse switch, like a vintage Osterizer. Its the real deal, not a flimsy household appliance. I love that replacement parts (gaskets, blades, extra cups in a variety of sizes) are cheap and easily accessible here on Amazon. I don't have to worry about the blades getting dull from the abuse I put them through as they can easily be replaced, unlike spending $150 for a replacement cup/blade assembly for BlendTec! A family member has a BlendTec, and I see no difference in performance between that and this. This blender is quite loud, though not quite as loud as the BlendTec that should really be sold with ear protection. I haven't owned this blender very long yet, but have made A LOT of smoothies with it as I had dental work done and literally used it to replace every meal for awhile. So far I absolutely love this little machine, I will update if it ever has any issues.

Don’t buy it
Needed to replace my nutri bullet with something larger. This blender is crap if you’re trying to make something as easy as a smoothie. The blades create a hole at the bottom and nothing gets blended together, unless you add either way more juice than you need, or water, which waters it down and gives it no flavor. These blenders used to be great, but I’m sure they’ve been dumbed down like everything else made by corporate America.

Great blender, just could be bigger
I bought this to replace my Ninja blender which cracked after a little more than one year. The Oster has no fancy settings but I have only ever used max speed on blenders, so I didn't miss that. It is very loud but so was the Ninja. Results are very similar, maybe it takes a little longer bit everything ends up perfectly smooth. There are only two downsides compared to the Ninja: - the jar is significantly smaller (6 cups vs 9 I believe). Larger glass blenders sell to be rare though! - it struggles when you add mostly solids and little liquid. The Ninja did a much better job with it's blades sitting higher. The Oster needs you to push the fruits or veggies down until some of it is liquefied, afterwards it does a good job by itself. Overall very happy with this purchase 2 months in. Will update the review if necessary.

blender
I had an older version of this for 15 years I am not loving my new one quite as much It doesn't seem to work through the frozen fruit as well as the older model I still very much like the appearance and simplicity and it is good value for the price compared to similarly priced brands
