Vintage Wisdom Oracle: Deck & Book Set [Moseley, Victoria] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Vintage Wisdom Oracle: Deck & Book Set Review: Beautiful and wise. Just like a woman. - This is probably going to become my favorite oracle deck. I resonate with the images, it is as if they bring out my more feminine energy that is not always apparent. This is a very soft yet powerful deck. Paris, beautiful gardens, antiques, corsets, tea, sitting at your vanity applying rouge. Wandering through the forest accompanied by a bird on your shoulder or a butterfly beckoning you to a small pond. The nurturing energy of mother, the genuine honesty from a friend who was your best interests in mind. The woman who has been to hell and came back stronger, more sure of herself yet still has compassion and hope The artwork/images are so beautiful and the messages are simple which I feel allow your intuition to blossom more, especially if you are new to reading any type of cards. Cardstock is good, has a matte finish which, I feel, add to the vintage look of the cards. Backs are non reversible which isn't a big deal since it's not a tarot deck, although I prefer that style. Backs are sepia brown tone with scroll designs, flowers, and the middle features a color photo of a woman's face, Pretty and fit the theme of the deck. The book is charming and I appreciate the author sharing the story of how the deck came to be. I love that it doesn't have crystals, chakras, pentagrams, cauldrons or any other new age or witchy stuff in it. Sometimes you want to read for others who are not comfortable or familiar with those symbols and that energy may affect your ability to help them. Or maybe you just want to display a card in your cubicle at work, in your bedroom if you live with family, without making people question it. Review: Gorgeously Designed Cards - OK Ok Ok. I finally broke down and got this deck. I wasn't going to at first but I kept seeing it on Instagram and finally just decided to do it. I was king of boycotting it because as you can expect, the whole deck pretty much featured white women and featured almost zero diversity. That didn't bother me for a long time but let's face it... it's 2016 and people of all colors read Tarot and have been for hundreds of years. It's time to see some color. With that said, I do understand that this is a vintage deck and the artwork during the Victorian Era would not have had such diversity. Also I really love Victorian design despite the lack of ethnicity so I caved. I'm so happy that I did because the images really are quite stunning. It's very feminine and I've been on the hunt for a really good deck that has divine feminine energy. I feel like this is definitely a great deck for that purpose especially when working with the darker energy of the feminine. The descriptions are well done and so far, I have had pretty clear readings. The book is great and features a good amount of well thought out tarot spreads that are original and totally fit the theme. And as if that weren't enough, the box is stunning. I mean pure magic. It is silver gilded and very sturdy. I've paid twice as much for a deck that wasn't half as well done as this one.

It feels like you can enter right into the timeless images
This is such a lush, gorgeous deck. It had caught my eye a few times as I perused various oracle decks on Amazon to supplement my Tarot readings, but somehow I always passed it by. But a few youtube reviews later and I hit "add to cart." I amxiously awaited its arrival and it meet all my expectations. Some people have exaggerated the size of the cards. They're larger than typical Tarot cards, but so are many oracle deck cards. These are about the size of any of Doreen Virtue's cards-- a little big but not overwhelming. But they are anything but airy-fairy. There is something timeless in the combination of vintage photos, sepia tones, old letters, artwork, pressed flowers and lace.. There is a deep feminine vibe, but not a "girly" vibe. They evoke feelings of the past, whether my own past or that of my ancestors. There is something about the cards that enables you to really enter into the scene. Maybe it's because the images are so multi-layered that they're almost three dimensional. The themes of the cards, including "Sanctuary," "Kindred Spirits," "Patience," "Surrender," and so many more, really resonate with me. I appreciate the lack of fluffy New-Age imagery. The guidebook is wonderful as well. There are some wonderful-sounding spreads with appropriately-vintagey names in the guidebook. I haven't tried these yet, having done primarily one-card daily draws so far. I tend to go overboard with new decks and do way too many readings to try them out, so I'm easing my way into this one. But it's my new favorite. I just connect with it, more than other oracle decks I own. I think of this deck as being particularly for women (as all the figures are women); adolescent and teenage girls would like it as well.

A nice deck at a great price right now! $12 +/-
This is a quality deck. The solid two-piece slide box, sturdy card stock, the book, even the card size- everything is sturdy and well done. The images a pretty and inviting, she uses some pieces of art from the great masters in her collages, along with other paintings or vintage photographs. This deck isn’t as striking, clean and crisp, visually, as the “Oracle of Mystical Moments” (both collage decks), but this is still quite stunning. This deck’s guidebook and write-ups for individual cards are far and away better than the The Oracle of Mystical Moments deck, the meanings are concise, clear and meaningful; this deck reads very well. This set has really well thought-out details in the guidebook, they are shorter and less flowery than other decks, but it’s very easy to read with. I read with this Oracle deck often, I’d like to see more from this team. I use tarot and Lenormand more than Oracle decks, but I’d hate to lose this one. I wish (some) other deck writers put real thought into their guidebooks as this writer did, they’re just wonderful. I particularly like the “Chatelaine” spread for general subject reads and specific guidance alike. If you like oracles, get this deck, I feel confident that you’ll enjoy working with it. I’m probably going to grab a backup copy while it’s still $12. I edged mine with Sakura Micron Identi-Pen in “Brown” ( a warm rich red-brown) which is a waterproof ink that seals the edges nicely.

Beautiful Art Work! High Quality :)
I resonate with these cards hard core! :) I have a love for vintage inspired fashion and art, and oracle cards are a relatively new interest and hobby of mine. LOVE these cards! Beautiful highly detailed art work. They do come with a guide book which gives some reading layouts, along with explanations and possible interpretations of each card. Although I find I can read them intuitively most of time. The pictures and messages on each card alone, can tell you so much. Glad to have the booklet though. I have used that, a few times as well. Good quality card stock... thick, but not overly so. Not flimsy, so they're easy to shuffle. Even their box is beautifully decorated and sturdy. I've had them for less than a week now, and have enjoyed multiple readings with them so far. I know I'll get SO much use of of them.

Extraordinarily beautiful deck with a wide variety of images.
I love vintage images and I love oracle cards. As soon as I saw this deck, I knew that it was calling my name. I love oracle cards and I love vintage imagery. These vintage images were obviously chosen with great care and embellished in a gorgeous but not gaudy way. My mother wants to frame some of them. I had to tell her you can't do that! Anyway, onto the cards themselves. The box is sturdy. The cards are big, 3 3/4 inches by slight over 5 1/2 inches. I find them a bit slick and hard to hold onto when shuffling, but I have arthritis and a tendency to drop things. With all cards, I recommend alternating sides when shuffling cards so that they're less likely to develop a weak spot. I'd be careful with the edges of these cards as they aren't gilt. Some of the cards are Wisdom, Sanctuary, Abundance, Playfulness, and Ancestors. There are at least two cards featuring vintage images of Japanese women in kimonos. There is one featuring the Virgin Mary holding the Baby Jesus. There are some cards with familiar Pre-Raphaelite paintings. The variety of images keeps the cards from being too similar. Please feel free to ask me if you have any questions I haven't answered here. I haven't done a reading yet because I just got the cards yesterday. The book has the spreads at the back. There are five creative spreads. All in all, I think this is a beautiful deck that fans of vintage photography will love.
