It works as advertised, hotter than plain propane but nowhere near what real MAPP does
I think it's a travesty that this manufacturer and others have adopted the term "Modern MAPP Gas" to describe products like this. Real MAPP gas, i.e. Methylacetylene-Propadiene Propane mixture, produced a flame that is hot enough to make the end of my torch glow bright orange. This stuff does not. It's adequate for my purposes, which include roasting chile peppers and finishing creme brulee in the kitchen, plus occasional soldering or brazing operations in my shop. I am not sure the price differential between plain propane and this gas is worth it, but I bought enough to last me for a long time and have no regrets. If I need more serious heat I can use my oxyacetylene rig, but that would be overkill for culinary use, soldering, or brazing small objects.
