My chickens go crazy for the greens! I sprinkle the seeds in trays of potting soil, keep the soil moist, and they sprout within a day or two in my greenhouse. I rotate several trays so my chickens always have some for a nutritious snack.

AMAZING. Soaked for 24 hours then placed in a mesh drainer and mixed the seeds that after noon twice. Mixed again. And planted in soil to grow in the house. Will move them outside once full for the chickens with a shallow bed and mesh over the top for them to graze all summer.

Seeds germinated easily munchies for hens. Not particularly fussy about them just grass.

Im trying new thing with my chickens this year. The first thee times trying to grow was an trail and error with me. Once I figured out a good method the girls (and Roos) are enjoying their snacks.

I try to grow stuff every year and fail. this was very easy to grow, all i had to do was water it. I kept it away from the chickens while the grass and mix grew so they would not eat the seeds per instructions. It has been really hot here and they would grow real green one day and be dead the next. So for me this is still a learning curve when it comes to growing "anything". I am sure any master gardner can get get this to work better for them than for me.
