TayMac 5 in. Round Metal Blank Plate, 4 in. Box Mount, White

Actually four and a half stars. I have a quibble with the furnished screws. I removed a couple old fire alarms from a hall ceiling and was left with some unsightly holes with the junction box still in place. The boxes are standard four-inch octagonal boxes that are often used with ceiling fixtures. This plate is perfect for covering one. The holes in the plate are recessed and 3 1/2 inches apart--this matches the mounting tabs in the box. The plate is furnished with two, 1-inch, slotted, flat-head screws. I had to tap a couple of the mounting holes on the junction box in order to put the screws in easily. This was probably because the original screws were cross-threaded in, but be aware. My only complaint is that the screws do not recess flush and protrude enough to be unsightly. The slotted head makes it worse; especially because the paint in the slot gets flaked off during the exertions of turning the screw into place. I mean "slotted heads"? I haven't seen one since the twentieth century. I am glad I bought this and I would recommend it to a friend.

Did help hole in wall from door knob

A very heavy metal plate with pre drilled holes. I had to make an estimated guess at the size (Screw spacing) I needed and I was a little off. I couldn't get the smoke detector off so I measured it wrong. No problem I couldn't fix. The plates are very heavy metal so they won't flex if over tightened some. Other than my mistake these are great covers for the exposed wire box and wires from the old smoke detectors.

I removed an old smoke alarm that was recessed in the basement drywall. The installed bracket has a plaster ring. with screw holes 3 1/2 inches apart. New plate is 5 in. in diameter and mounting screw holes fit the bracket. The plate is nicely painted white and the screws with white heads were provided. The plate is of good quality and curved slightly on the edge. . Plate looks nice although paint is a little too bright for my taste., It is easy to paint though and I am satisfied with the purchase.

They work

I liked the quality of the blank metallic plate; although I spent a good hour messing with the included flat head screws. They were millimeters to short for my projects. I dropped the 2-point of contact flat head screws so many dang times. I didn't install the screws in the 4 Inch fixture easy available holes; I installed the screws in the outer part which is the chassis of the fixture and holes were buried farther back. Overall my projects were a big success at the end of day with your product. I was also very excited to find out I was eligible to Return a single blank plate with no fees. I'll be keeping them. Bought because I have used this brand before with success. However, this time it came without screws (main reason I ordered it). Good product, but cheap packaging that caused screws to be lost before arriving.

Fits perfectly

Bought it to hide some tiny holes in my ceiling due to pre-existing home networking cabling system. I would say it does the job and came with everything needed to hide those tiny holes mentioned. Price is great too!

Really good recommend item and very easy to cover recessed junction box

I needed covers for access to my water shutoffs and these where perfect. I finished off my basement and needed something simple to get on the other side of the drywall and I used two of these to access the shutoffs in case I need access in the future. Slim, good paint quality (white) and would use these again if I need more access to something. I will need a smaller pair of hands to get through the small hole but that's ok. I would recommend these if this is a slim access cover your looking for. I know they are used for things entirely different then what I used them for so I can't comment on the actual use. I would recommend a different pair of screws/anchors due to the one's that come with these covers, are metal machine threads and will not go into drywall. I'm happy!..
