Very good product, please read my review
Used twice now in two years in the spring to spray my and neighbors yard for broadleaf weeds. I also bought the two nozzle boom made for this tank. Very easy to set up, prime and use. This tank holds 15 gallons of water. We each have just over an acre to spray. I utilize both boom and spot spray gun which is purchased separately from the tank. Tank pump primes great and itโs very easy to find the optimal pressure using the gauge. Mix on exit is a great system since youโre using the large 15 gallon main tank to only hold water and the smaller cassette style tank to hold the chemical youโre using. In other words the chemical is separate from the water and will not enter the water tank. There is a dial next to the pump on top of the water tank that allows for adjustment of how much chemical is needed for your application. Easy to read and understand. The only drawback is there is no way to set the fluid ounce level other then what the dial allows, meaning if your product calls for 1.5 ounces per 1000sq feet you do not have the option to set the dial to that amount. It can only be set at 1, 2, 3, 4 ounces and so on. This is a minor issue as far as Iโm concerned. I contacted the chemical company of the product im using and was told they are very familiar with this tank and delivery process and recommend I set the dosage mix at 1 ounce mix instead of 2 ounce mix even though it called for 1.5 ounces. Better lower amount and spray a second time instead of possibly killing my grass with too much product at once. We did this last year and again this year which gave us great coverage and results. I do recommend the mix on exit set up but wish Chapin would reconfigure the dial to allow for half ounce increments. 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 and so on. Would make things easier. Just make sure you follow the instructions in the box when setting it up and the instructions with the boom attachment. Make sure your seals are tight to prevent any leaks. I recommend.

The Sprayer Also Works on a John Deere 1025R Tractor.
I read all of the previous reviews, so I was prepared to have to tighten loose fittings and hose clamps. But when I unpacked my unit, everything was in good shape, and the minor assembly required went without a hitch. I mounted the sprayer to my John Deere 1025R tractor to a front end fork-lift attachment. It was easy to just pop the hood and attach the jumper cable clamps to the battery to power the sprayer's pump. The attached sprayer's hose was long enough to reach to the riders seat on the tractor, and spray to the right and left of the tractor. I put my concentration into the small tank, and filled up the water tank with 15 gallons. I used the sprayer to spray herbicide on my property. The sprayer had enough pressure to reach about 15+ feet from the tractor. The sprayer worked like a champ and I had no problems while using all 15 gallons of water. In summary, the sprayer was easy to assemble, works well on tractors too, and met and exceeded my expectations. I would recommend this product.

Good Sprayer if you do a few important modifications
The basic design of this system is good but it does require some modification. It mixes pretty well and the pump has plenty of power. The first mod is the drain plug. I read about its problems with leakage in the comments before I bought the machine and bought a brass hose valve w/shutoff with the machine. Doesn't leak. It actually mixes pretty well. Not perfect and not exactly as the scale would indicate but usable and far better than mixing insecticides. My mixing valve did leak. There is nothing securing the incoming mixing hose to the mixing valve so don't pull it and you might want to disassemble is initially to make sure that it is seated fully. ALWAYS put it back to -ZERO- when you are finished or it will gravity feed. The mixing valve screws are already rusting after a month so I will probably replace them with stainless ones. The power switch looks like the waterproof switch you would expect to be on an ATV destined device. IT IS NOT! It is a simple 110v POS switch in a housing that isn't water sealed. Mine corroded away in a month. Just bought a 12v, waterproof, standalone switch for a few dollars on Amazon to fix it. All in all, I like this system once you fix the simple, inexpensive shortcuts the manufacturer took to save a few dollars. I'm confident that Chapin is spending more in customer support and warranty work than these fixes would have cost to be made right in the first place.

Please read before purchasing and save your money...
7/24/20- update... I have now used this several times and have tried every setting to adjust the flow of the poison to mix appropriate. I am using just basic round up in the mix tank but it still does not mix the proper ratio. I now have it set to setting 7 which is approx 15oz per gallon. I sprayed 25 gallons of water and the mix tank only distributed approx 10-15oz. I just cannot get this system to work and would strongly advised against purchasing one. You can save money and headache by just buying a standard tank and manually mixing. I have also made multiple calls to the company and they have been of no assistance. They did ship me a new mixing valve (that didnโt work) and after calling back with results, I was told there is nothing else they know to do. I have lowered this review to 1 star because not only is the product faulty, but service was no better. I normally do not write negative reviews because I understand that there can be a lemon in every bunch. I will start with saying, the idea behind this product is outstanding. I was attracted to the idea of switching out the concentrate tanks without having to clean the main tank each time. This idea of auto mixing was great, but the execution is not good and that leads me into the remaining part of this review. I am not saying to not buy this product because for some it may work just fine, however for me and my situation it does not and here is why. The initial setup is fairly easy with minimal screw connections. I do recommend you check or tighten every screw and hose adapter as mine seem to all be loose. Even after my first round of tightening the connections, I still had several leaks from different areas. I was finally able to get it all leak free but not before lots of dissassembly and reassembly. After I got it all setup, I filled my concentrate tank with two gallons of generic round up and 25 gallons of water in the main tank. I sprayed my entire property and emptied the water tank which should have lowered my concentrate tank by at least 2/3rds considering i was on a 3/oz per gallon ratio. My concentrate tank remained nearly full. I could tell the it was pulling poison in to mix, just not at the right ratio. I disassembled every component, cleaned and checked all hoses for kinks and other issues and could find none. I called Chapin and the lady kindly sent me an entire new mix valve and hoses to try. After assembly of the replacement valves I attempted it all again. Again, the same thing happened that all the water was sprayed but still a fairly full tank of poison. I called Chapin again and the lady I spoke to said she has heard of this before with round up and other thicker liquids than water and that there is a email they can send that helps "recalibrate". The instructions as as follows... MOE ATV testing instructions 1. Fill water tank about half way with water 2. Fill chemical tank with chemical you wish to use โ tighten cap 3. Turn on unit and adjust flow to optimize and remove any air in the lines (spray into a bucket or an area that is OK with the chemical) 4. Turn off unit 5. Remove the chemical tank and weigh it โ record weight in pounds 6. Re-attach chemical tank 7. Set dial to desired setting 8. Turn unit back on 9. Spray into 1 gallon container like a milk container until full 10. Re-weigh chemical tank โ record weight in pounds 11. Subtract this 2nd weight from 1st weight - this is the amount of chemical in pounds used in 1 gallon 12. Take this value and multiple by 16 to get ounces/gallon 13. If this value is not desired turn the dial to a higher or lower number and repeat So after many assemblies and disassemblies, 50+ gallons of water in trial, hours spent spraying and working on the unit. I cannot say this is worth purchasing. I feel I would have been better spending my money on a regular tank without all the things attached that will fail. Even though this seems to have a good pump and sprays a good stream, the same can be said for cheaper sprayer pump setups from your local stores. I highly recommend reading other reviews listed on here as I experience the same issues and more. I am not mad by any means, just disappointed this product is not working as described. I really wish it worked as it would make life so much simplier. Again, I wish the best for Chapin and this product, but I will not be a return customer and will end up just pouring my mixing solution in the main tank and using it as any other tank design. If anything changes in the future, I will edit this post to reflect the changes. **for all the people out there that will say to just turn the dial to a higher ratio, while this might work, I for one, do not think I should have to do that when spending $200 for a product that is supposed to do it for me, and two, I do not want to "test" ratio mixes with my concentrate that is not cheap.

Works great... but?
This took a bit of doing to put together, but the directions were informative so even a guy like me could understand them. My goal was to have extra small tanks so I could just store all the concentrate I don't use up in them permanently. So I ordered two extra small tanks, only the extra ones don't fit. The holes that they sit on don't match up with the pegs on the unit, they just don't quite line up. I don't know if the manufacturing of the extra small tanks got the measurements wrong, or I just happen to get two bad ones, but unless I strap them down tight catching at least one of the pegs, the tank moves around. Moreover, the original small tank this unit came with doesn't fit squarely on the pegs either. My guess is quality checks were not done with the smaller tanks actually attached to the larger one when the whole unit is put together. I also had a hard time getting it to prime itself, after reading here I see others had the same issue. What I found is both tanks need fluid in them, then it needs to run for a full 5+ minutes before it will prime itself. A drain valve would be a simple fix for this, why it wasn't added is odd, after all most pumps need to be primed first, everyone knows this. Also the painted numbers on the ratio adjustment wheel is already coming off after only one use. These numbers are pretty important to be able to see clearly. So be prepared to buy a pen that paints, because you will need them. Also, I question the mixing ratio that the gauge is saying, again I don't believe much quality testing was done in this area as well. My best advice is to use a bit of windshield washer fluid mixed with some water to add color, then pour it in the small tank at a measured rate. I put exactly 2 gallons of water in the big tank, then a half gallon of the blue windshield washer fluid in the small tank, then sprayed half out. This showed me pretty close to what the ratio actually is. My unit is spraying about double what it actually says it's spraying. Another suggestion, this will wear down your ATV battery fast, especially waiting for it to prime. So if possible strap an extra battery on the ATV and run this unit from it. You can charge the extra one later. After getting all these issues sorted out, it did work quite well and cut my spraying time (out in the pasture) by more than half. Much much better than using my silly little hand pump sprayer. Plus I love not having to mix tank after tank of my little pump sprayer, it also lessens my chances of spilling. However, because of the power and the quantities of mix, I would not recommend this for someone who has under an acre of ground, it would just be overkill. The concept of not having to mix 10 to 15 gallons of spray all at once, leaving the chance of extra toxic solution left in the tank after finishing spraying, resulting in either dumping it out, or over-spraying just to get rid of the extra, is brilliant. But I had to take a couple of stars off just because of all the seemingly easy fixes that should have been caught at the time of manufacturing. If you are handy with solving problems like this and have a large yard you will love it. But if you aren't, stick with a small tank sprayer.

No wasted chemicals when spraying around trees!
This is my one year review for the Chapin post mix 25 gallon sprayer. We have 7+ acres that were overrun with an invasive weed two years ago. We bought this system because the ability to change out chemicals with no waste made sense. In the areas were we didn't want anything growing we used a ground clear product and when spraying around trees and bushes that we wanted to keep, we changed out to a pre-emergent. We did use a second chemical tank as it was a bit messy to drain and refill the small tank with different chemicals. We had a manufacture defect that Chapin customer service quickly resolved. They really impressed us with their service after the sale! I will share some tips for working large areas with this sprayer. We purchased a wider spray tip (blue fan tip from Tractor Supply) and added a 50' heavy duty air compressor hose to extend the distance we could get from the tank system. The pump had no problem keeping up with additional hose and this allowed us to work a lot of hard to reach areas without moving the tank. We just completed our second year of chemical application with no issues from the sprayer plus it looks like we are winning the weed wars! Bottom line is this $250 purchase was money well spent. The unique design and customer service from Chapin make this a sprayer that we recommend very highly!

The motor and seperate tanks are not worth the money. One year warrranty for a reason
I have owned this unit or two years. It has been used in boom mode to fertilize a very large yard. It has been used in spot mode maybe 8 times. The pump has failed. The chemical from the detachable unit leaked into the main tank withing a week of first use this year. A very decent customer service agent requested I remove a panel on the pump and push a reset button. The pump still did not work. Upon calling back, I spoke with a very cocky female who told me too little use can ruin the pump or too much use can ruin the pump. Make up your mind which one you want to go with. I checked voltages and they drop after the main switch. I was told, to bad you still have to buy a whole new motor even though the swith detatches from the motor. The motor worked fine two weeks ago so how it was stored is not an issue. Spend your money someplace else.

Great product, formula for adding multiple chemicals to mix tank.
Recieved this from Chapin on how to formulate your chimical if you are mixing multiple chemicals together. MOE Test Procedure First, test how much fluid from the mix tank is used for every gallon of water sprayed. Fill the mix tank with water and weigh it. Record that weight. Hook up the mix tank to the big tank. Set the sprayer to spray at 3 oz of โchemicalโ per gallon, then spray a total of 8.35 lb into a bucket. 8.35 lb is an arbitrary number, but it does correspond to the exact weight of a gallon of water, which simplifies the calculation. Weigh the mix tank again and calculate how much fluid from the mix tank was used. Use the formula 128/((Total sprayed (lb))/(Chemical used (lb))-1) To find the ratio of mix tank fluid to pure water sprayed in oz/gal. Use the formula 1.45 oz/gal of xlr8 + 1 oz/gal surfactant + X oz/gal of water = Y oz/gal total Where Y is the ratio calculated in Step 6. Solve for X, the volume of water required to find the ratio between the volume of xlr8 and volume of water to use in the mix tank. The mix tank has a total volume of approximately 1.5 gal (192 oz). Use the following formula to determine the total volume of xlr8 to use in the tank: (1.45 oz/gal)/Y= Z/(192 oz) Where Z is the total volume of xlr8 to add in the tank. To calculate the volume of surfactant and water, use the same equation, but substitute 1.45 oz/gal with 1 oz/gal for surfactant, and the value X for water.

Effective and economical.
This unit works perfectly to allow me to provide effective weed control by boom or wand. I mounted it on a wooden sled that slides into the yard trailer. I found the drain to be problematic but replaced the cheap plastic cap with a brass 1โ ball valve and no more drips. I have a second tank for concentrate that I have filled with water for rinsing after spraying. Keeping the unit filled with water maintains the prime and it takes just a minute to swap the pony tank, set the mix ratio and get spraying. As soon as spraying is done, the pony tank with water is returned and the lines are rinsed. So far I have no issues and the mixing unit appears to be working well. I can raise the boom level for running through the pastures or lower down to spray the lawn. I am quite pleased with the unit as it works well and the pony tank avoids the need to rinse the big tank after spraying.
