Nicholas Flamel appeared in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter —but did you know he really lived? And he might still be alive today! Discover the truth in Michael Scott’s New York Times bestselling series the Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel with the first three books: The Alchemyst , The Magician , and The Sorceress . The truth: Nicholas Flamel was born in Paris on September 28, 1330. The legend: Nicholas Flamel discovered the secret of eternal life. The records show that he died in 1418. But his tomb is empty. Nicholas Flamel lives. But only because he has been making the elixir of life for centuries. The secret of eternal life is hidden within the book he protects—the Book of Abraham the Mage. It's the most powerful book that has ever existed. In the wrong hands, it will destroy the world. That's exactly what Dr. John Dee plans to do when he steals it. Humankind won't know what's happening until it's too late. And if the prophecy is right, Sophie and Josh Newman are the only ones with the power to save the world as we know it. Sometimes legends are true. And Sophie and Josh Newman are about to find themselves in the middle of the greatest legend of all time. “ [A] A riveting fantasy …While there is plenty here to send readers rushing to their encyclopedias…those who read the book at face value will simply be caught up in the enthralling story. A fabulous read. ”— SLJ , Starred Read the whole series! The Alchemyst The Magician The Sorceress The Necromancer The Warlock The Enchantress Review: Wonderful Series of Books - My sons - ages 8 and 10 when they read these books - loved these books. This set was purchased as a gift for another child who loves to read because my kids wouldn't let go of their copies. My kids tell me that these books had wonderful plots and were written in a way that held their interest Summary from my kids: There are a pair of twins who are the most powerful people ever. One is destined to save the world and the other is destined to destroy an ancient world - the "bad" world. Nicholas Flamel and his wife are looking for these twins their entire life and are guarding the codex which has the knowledge to destroy the world or save the world. Magic, sorcery are the main themes. Appropriate for kids above age 9 or 10 in general, possibly younger if they are good readers. Excellent tween level writing. Certainly gripping for my kids. This is just the first part of the series - there is another set of three books that follow. Highly recommended. Review: Great series! - I got this trilogy for a gift, and realized later (when I friend noticed) that I was going to be wrapping duplicate books. (I have the 6-book complete series, too, and I did end up returning this trilogy, but he’s read them - from the 6-book set). He did enjoy them, though!

Great gift
This is for one of many nephews and I'm super excited for him to open for Christmas. Thankfully books get shared amongst the many and turn out to be good conversations for the young men to have in the world if books. Shipped quickly, arrived in great condition and price was awesome. Thanks!

Poor binding with one of the books
Just received my book set. Excited to indulge and dive into these. My only complaint upon receiving my book set was that the condition in which it came. The box was fine and 2 of 3 books were in good condition, however the first book has odd binding and seems like clusters of pages were stuck into this book. Does not look clean of binding as the other 2 I received. Still looking forward to this being a good read.

great for an advanced 3rd grade reader
It's tough to find suitable books for a younger kid who reads at a high level - books tend to get all boyfriend/girlfriend-y or just themes that are way way too dark (think end of 4th Harry Potter book and onward). This series definitely does have some killing, but it's not crazy horrible or super evil, and it revolves around the twin relationship, not any sort of girlfriend/boyfriend stuff. I also liked that the author explained the 'factual basis' at the end of the first book. I've enjoyed it as much as my nine year old has, and I don't feel bad about letting him read it. (He's still begging me to read Harry Potter 5-7, but he's at least mildly appeased for the moment... :)

Extremely enjoyable, and illuminating too
I rarely have enjoyed three books so much and am off to buy the next three. I know a little bit about alchemy, more about mythology, so it was wonderful to get a glimpse into a different approach to both. The twins carry the books well but the Flamels and supporting characters are great. I'm hoping we get another glimpse into Mars Ulthor's life. And how are they going to get Joan and Scathach back??

One of the best serie for 9-12 year old boys
After Harry Potter it took a while for my son to find a serie he loved, that one is one of them now. It is very well written and the cover in this edition is really beautiful better than the more modern one which is cheaper. The box set is lovely but now we have to buy the next 2 books : the necromancer and warlock. Books to read and re-read!

My 12-year-old loved these
My 12-year-old son had not previously read books by this author but when he received these for Christmas, he was glued to them! He now wants to buy more like this.

This Series is awesome, perfect for fiction YA readers
His story is more than just Philosopher's Stone and immortality. Michael Scott has woven the tale of lengedary Nicholas Flamel with his wit and wisdom so alluring that you will feel the urge to read this book ASAP. Obviously I took the book everywhere I went I started reading whenever I got the chance. It tells the tale of the Alchemyst his wife Perenelle, the twins and their immortal enemy Dr John Dee. Book has all the moment of mystery, magic, twists and turns some historic facts and some legends. All together it's a book worth reading if you are a fan of fiction genre.
