... am an installer of home theaters and other audio fun stuff. Let me say that I am not ...
I am an installer of home theaters and other audio fun stuff. Let me say that I am not a huge fan of Pyle. While the prices are low, the quality and durability is often lower than what I need for custom installation. No installer wants a return trip because a piece of equipment decides to die. There are very few in-wall speakers that have a back-box built in. I had a job where this was critical, and the price had to be low, so I took the chance. They do look and feel cheap, and I could see where other people could easily break the dogleg clamps. I removed each clamp and ran the screw through the molded hole. Then put them all back in place. This makes sure the clamp doesn't get stuck or start at a bad angle. It took some time, but I think was worth it as all clamps performed correctly. And the sound was not half bad! While these can't compare to the multi-thousand dollar in-wall speakers, they did fine for this particular room. For the price these are a good option when you must have a back-box.

You will not find a better ENCLOSED in-wall speaker for the price.
Believe me, I scoured the internet. And no one else comes close to this price. Less than $50 for a PAIR of ENCLOSED in-wall speakers. Not to mention there's only a fraction of companies even making enclosed in-wall speakers. I read each of the reviews about these here on Amazon. Of course for the price the manufacture of these speakers can't be the same as others that are upwards of $300 each. But that being said, simply be careful on your installation with them and then once they are mounted they will last. The main reason I wanted enclosed in-walls was for sound control. I didn't want any information bleeding out the back of the wall into the others areas of the house. I wanted it contained. And these do just that. Now, as for the audio quality. After the reviews I didn't expect much. And one doesn't equate high quality home theater products with the Pyle name by any stretch. I was absolutely floored by the quality in sound once they were all installed and configured and paired with my very capable active Yamaha sub. You should know that I am an Audio Engineer by trade so all I do is "critical listening". I'm telling you right now, if you want great sound on the smallest budget possible, this is it. This is the way to go. Also, due to the construction of our 1970's era home and the non-standard placement of the studs I also used one of these for our center channel. So our L/C/R setup all consists of the PDIW57's. Very pleased indeed.

Good sound, great price!
I was skeptical, but wow I'm happy with the purchase. I bought 4 sets to put in our new house. These are inexpensive speakers that actually sound pretty good! They are plenty loud, and have decent range for a cheap speaker mounted in the ceiling. I am cheap, so I am using only 1 speaker per room. They sound just fine in this configuration. These are at least as good, if not better, and cost about half compared to the speakers I put in my last house. Yes, there were no mounting issues, and the build quality was much better, but honestly, these sound better than the old ones! First, be very careful when mounting these! If you follow these directions, you should have no problems with mounting, if not, you will probably break every mount and be very angry at your speakers. 1a/3a. OPTIONAL: I highly recommend getting some small washers that fit the screw and are about 3/8 inch diameter. If you are super worried about how these look when installed, you can spray paint your washer black. I didn't, and unless you study the ceiling carefully, you don't notice the silver washers (homemade washers from an old piece of metal I had laying around, drilled with drill press and cut with tin snips). 1b. Unpack the speakers. 2. Get your favorite electric drill or screwdriver (I'm calling it a driver from here on out to avoid confusion). 3b. Remove the screws one at a time and put a washer on the screw. 4. Place the white flip out clamp in it's spot and start threading the screw in with your driver. After it is started, carefully align the flip out clamp so that it can easily be pulled into the track. Continue tightening the screw and watch the clamp carefully so that it does not bind on any edges, if it does bind, stop tightening at once and back up, or it will snap the brittle plastic. You might have to spin the screw back and forth a bit to get it to start down the track. In my experience, once it started down the track, it was able to make it all the way. 5. Once the clamp has been brought down the track by tightening the screw, reverse your driver so that the clamp travels back up the track. Stop as soon as it clears the edge and swings out of the track. Repeat the screwing and unscrewing one more time, being careful to make sure the screw does not bind when you first swing it in place by tightening the screw. Once the clamp has traveled down and up twice, loosen the screw until it once again JUST swings out of the track. If you did it right, the clamp has a small amount of tension on it, and will hold itself in place and not flop in the way when you tilt the speaker. 6. Repeat each step with all the mounts. You can do one speaker at a time, or unbox them all and get it over with. I did each one before I mounted it in the ceiling. 7. Cut your holes using the template as a guide, hook up speaker wires, push speaker into place, and tighten the screw that swings the clamp into place. 8. DON'T OVER-TIGHTEN the screw! If you over tighten, it will break the track guide at the base, which renders the mount point useless. If you didn't choose to install washers, you can easily pull the screw through the opening, which means that the clamp does not work. For me it was easier to use washers and set my drill to a very light clutch setting. Snug is way to tight, what we are going for here is just enough to pull the speaker up to the ceiling, and no further. I would buy these again. **If you found this review helpful, please mark it as helpful by clicking "Yes" below.**

Value line
Overall good value for the low price. Sound is OK for a basement room. As others have said, the plastic casing seems like really cheap plastic and the screws should be unscrewed and screwed in fully to set the threads prior to installing in the wall. The full box around the speakers is nice to contain the bass. If I was considering a living room location, I would have gone with a Polk or similar product.

Good sound at a great price
Bought these fully expecting them to end up in the garage as shop speakers but was pleasantly surprised. The sound quality is actually pretty great! The one thing I will say is that they are SUPER deep and will NOT fit in a 2x4 framed wall, so they will need to go in a 2x6 or deeper wall, a ceiling, or other area with a deeper recess to accommodate their huge depth.

DON'T BUY - NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE
This would be an OK product, but they took some short-cuts in the factory and probably dropped a few proesses that were in the original design. The first is regarding the mounts. There are 6 brackets that you should be able to tighten to grip the plasterboard or wood of the wall, to hold the speakers tightly. These work with long "wood" screws (or "plastic" screws threaded like wood screws) in plastic brackets. I'm sure the original design specified for the manufacturer to tap out the holes where the screws go. But, as you might read in "Poorly Made in China", the manufacturer was looking for a way to save a few cents, and profit that much more. They found it by not tapping the screws. but just leaving molded-in holes which _you_ would tap the holes by turning the screws. So, here I am trying to do that. I am 6' 180 lbs, not a small guy, and pretty strong. I am an ex broadcast engineer and accomplished DIY-er, and I know audio. But this speaker has me beat! I saw how hard this was and completely removed the screws and brackets so I work the screws through the holes without breaking the rest of the speaker. Still could not turn those screws too far. I lubricated the holes with dish washing liquid. Still can't do it. I will probably eventually get these screws through the holes, But my 2 speakers have 12 of these, and I'll be more than an hour at this. The second problem was that my speakers came with the grilles already mounted, and I had to take the speaker all of the way apart and bend the front panel to get the grille to come free. Also, the instructions seem to be for another model, my speaker doesn't have the same features. Don't buy, not worth the trouble to get them working. Find a better brand and pay more.

Easy to break when fitting, but good sound per buck.
I bought 3 pairs for a new build. The first lug broke when installing, because the plastic is brittle and the unit is built on a budget. I hot-melted it back together and started all screws off to centre the clamp in it's socket (but still just loose enough to swing behind the cut-out) before re-fitting (easier to understand if you see it). Don't over-tighten the screws and make sure the clamps don't jam at the start of their socket or the casing will break. No problems with the second one, only after breaking the first one. Anyway, the 1st pair is now fitted and they sound a bit better than I was expecting for the price (and in the ceiling). The sticky stuff for the grilles is a bit awkward to know where exactly to position (mine fell off a couple of times), but I squished it into the groove and it's holding on OK now. I'd buy them again, but just be careful when fitting them.

Good speakers but hardware poor
For the application that i am using these speakers for they are great and a great price. I would suggest that the clipping hardware is not great quality and most of the mounting system failed me on installation. I would suggest adding small washers on the mounting screws prior to installing in the ceiling. All in all good

Not sound like professional speakers
Not sound like professional speakers. I installed yamaha and pyle, but yamaha sounds better output. Pyle is good for the price.
