This is a question with in a question. You're surely not going to be connecting any wire bigher than 12 awg. On the back of the power supply is two binding post. Use solder to make your lugs up on the wire. You'll have to remove the plastic sleeve, about two or three twist with pliers and that sleve will come off. Strip and dress up the ends of the wire. Solder the lugs to the red and black wires. Let cool and the you can hook up your device. I hope this helps, at any hardware store you can get the terminals you need.

If I use this to power a car amp can I hook up a capacitor also like a car setup?

Cody, yes theoretically you could since the purpose of a capacitor in a car audio system is designed to prevent large spikes on your battery/charging system by your amp... It would do basically the same thing, I would recommend watching the display for how many amps you are drawing as you slowly turn up volume to make sure you don't draw too much and damage anything.

Is this Power supply too noisy for ham radio?

I don't know.... my SMPS failed after two days running a load of less than 4 amps. I don't recommend this unit under any circumstances, especially powering a ham radio.
