what is the maximum wattage? I used a similar one before which was only 120w max and did not provide the full output of my 240w laptop charger.

Realize this is late to the party but for others who might read...I used this with my Alienware m15 R7 laptop which was drawing a max of 180w while gaming. The the adapter was fine, not hot. The power jack on this laptop is right next to the hot output fan so it was a little hard to tell if the adapter was actually a little warm from the current or just picking up heat from the output fan (these laptops run hot when gaming). My laptop ships with a 240w power supply but in reality I've not actually seen it draw over 200w. However your amperage may vary. I have Nvidia 3060 but other models may have up to 3080 or 3090 which I'm sure will draw more power. Personally I would be careful with anything over 240w with this adapter. Run some attended tests before using unattended.

Does this work using a dell precision 7740 laptop and its 240watt power supply that the 7740 comes with ? .

Does this work on HP G7 laptop?

I have never used it for HP laptop, but I think it will work with what I can find online. It definitely works with Dell Latitude laptops. the charger plug has a 7.4mm outer diameter. and a 5mm inner diameter with a pin. Hope this helps.
