Perfect's Little Brother {aka The Next Best Thing}
I've had my share of bad experiences and disappointments with other activity table brands and after being let down a few good times, I was determined to find the perfect table. It took a couple of months, but I soon realized that the perfect activity table does not exist. Human error is real, factory defects happen, and nobody gets it right 100% of the time, but I will tell you that Melissa and Doug come pretty close with this table. We love it! My husband and I had a blast putting it together; it was so easy and came with step-by-step instructions! It's a mixture of real wood and very sturdy particle board which makes for a great quality, durable activity table. We couldn't be happier! It still looks as good as the day we bought it and my son loves it! Everything about this table is a win! Great size for and even greater price and an overall great product! I would buy this table all over again! I read that some people had parts with manufacturing defects. I know it's a pain, but contact the company ... they'll send you the part or a new table if needed. This table is worth the trouble!

Bigger than expected
The main intentions for this table are for my toddlers to be able to use the same space at the same time for use of sensory bins and learning activities, play with toys together, and conspicuous toy storage. I can attest that this table serves the purpose of all of the above mentioned and more!! The box arrived quick and in perfect condition and it was HUGE! I thought it would take forever to set up but I managed to get it done in 30 minutes on Christmas eve. The instructions were super easy to follow but also, there are not that many pieces. This table takes up significant space but it also allows for storage underneath the green boards. Some of the things I did not like were that the toys end up in the floor as the only storage the table contains is a small drawer, the drawer is operated through a wooden stick and thus it makes it hard to open/close it, and the sides are open and expose the items underneath the table. Overall, I am sooooo happy with my table and so are my kids. I'm actually working toward creating additional storage underneath the green boards. Nonetheless, I recommend for anyone with toddlers as it serves so many purposes (not just to play with and store legos).

Great table for the price!
My husband and I got this for our 2-year-old son for Christmas, and it has been wonderful! He was always playing with his Cars race track on the floor, and either an animal or a person would wind up stepping on it, so we decided to get an activity table. Also, he was getting a Thomas train set for Christmas, so we wanted to be able to set up his track on the table and not the floor. I researched a lot of different tables and I am extremely happy with this one! It was very easy to put together, and has held up great. It only took me about 20 minutes to put together, and is easy for one person to do until you need to turn the table over. The only damage to the table so far was caused by my son running into the corners of the legs with his push wagon, but considering how fast he runs, I am very impressed at how little damage he caused. There are only some minor chips in the paint, which could easily be fixed with some white paint. As stated in some other reviews, the table is rather large, so make sure you have room for it. We have it out in the middle of his bedroom floor so that he can walk all the way around it, but luckily his room is pretty big. If the room you are going to put this in is on the smaller side, then it will more than likely take up most of the floor space. For the money, this is the best table you can get! You really can't go wrong with Melissa and Doug products.

Great Activity Table
We used this activity table for a train set up with the Melissa and Doug Train Set. This is a great quality table that we will use for YEARS! The table was pretty easy to put together. Took my husband and I roughly 45 minutes to put it together with minimal tools. Due to size - definitely recommended having 2 people for assembly. I was worried about the storage drawer being too small, but it has plenty of room for spare train parts (maybe even the full set if my toddler actually ever wants it put away). The table is very sturdy and is holding up to the 3 yo durability test after a month.

Lack of quality control - Exceptional Customer Service UPDATE
This table is a great large size with the ability to grow with your child. My 3 year old can easily reach things that are in the middle of the table. It surprisingly feels very sturdy! The directions are very easy to follow and took almost an hour and a half to put together. Just a heads up: the box it comes in is VERY heavy. Unfortunately, I can't say I'm totally happy with the purchase. I was disappointed to see the lack of quality control coming from a Melissa & Doug product. A side board was not painted on all four sides (looks unfinished), holes were not centered together so I had to drill in my own and the top two pieces seem to be too small for the table. The top pieces have me most concerned. The gaps on the sides are big enough for little fingers to fit through and lift up the board. If I knew this is what I would be receiving I would've ordered from a store so I could return or I would look more into other options. UPDATE: After writing this review, Barbara from Melissa and Doug left a message (below) to get in touch with her. I called in and spoke to a very friendly receptionist who got me in touch with Barbara. Barbara assured me that my experience with this table was not at all up to their quality standards. Within 2 days of speaking to her I received a replacement part for the piece that was not painted on all four sides along with a train tunnel and wooden trains for my troubles. It was incredibly generous of her! For anyone that isn’t happy with their Melissa and Doug purchase- do not hesitate to contact them. Their customer service is outstanding. We’ve had the table set up in the playroom for about a month now and my boys absolutely love it. I was concerned with the two top pieces at first, but we haven’t had any issues with my two year old picking them up. This piece of furniture is solid and there is no doubt in my mind that it will last for years. After visiting a toy store and seeing other train sets on the market, I can honestly say I am very happy with this purchase. The others I’ve seen are nowhere near as big or versatile as the Melissa and Doug table.

Not sturdy, not safe
I planned to buy my son a train set for Christmas, so I purchased the activity table ahead of time so that I could set it up early. The table collapsed within a month of me setting it up and a week before Christmas. (The bolts popped right out of the particle board.) Fortunately, my son was nowhere near the table when it happened. The bad news is the timing. This happened a week before Christmas, I didn't own it long enough to put the train set on it, and also, my Amazon return window had recently expired. I called the toll-free number on the Melissa & Doug installation instructions and tried to determine whether they'd help rectify the issue or whether I had to find a new table. Initially I was optimistic, but it's been a few days now of me calling repeatedly to find out where things stand and waiting for a call back, and I've lost faith in a Christmas miracle. In the short term, my plan to get some 2x4's or 4x4's and use them at every corner of the table to reinforce the side panels. This will hopefully make the table stable enough for my son to use his train set without me worrying about him getting hurt. The table won't look pretty, but that's not my main concern. In the long term, my plan is to build him a table using solid wood. I've looked at all the common tables that you can buy online, and they're all relatively thin particle board. After this experience, I'm not interested in owning another table made with the same material. I agree with another review who described it a little more sturdy than cardboard. (It's worth noting that there's at least one company online that sells solid wood train tables and they look great, but they're costly and I'd rather save the money and build one instead.) No, I can't recommend this to anyone. Even if my table didn't collapse, I'd be disappointed in the quality. UPDATE Jan 2013: Melissa & Doug shipped me a new table. I wasn't expecting it, as I haven't spoken to them further about the issue. I successfully reinforced the first table using the plan I described above. When I put together the new one, I'll most likely use the same reinforcements, and use it in a different part of the house as an extra table.

not nearly as nice as the photo
The table is made of pretty thin compressed wood. The holes were all drilled in the right place and pieces lined up fairly easily so assembly was completed in about 20 minutes (from opening box to removing and sorting parts, and assembly). there are a few things you need to know that are not apparent from the photos: The table is kind of flimsy - moving it around I fear it is going to just break apart - it needs some better cross-bracing the tabletop (green part) is made of two pieces - so there is a seam down the middle of the table the tabletop pieces just lift off, exposing the "guts" of the table there are exposed fasteners - an eyesore that could have been remedied by some cheap white tape circles to cover the metal or more creative placement of fasteners the table comes with nothing - you just get the table - none of the accessories the drawer is much smaller than it should and could be Overall I think the kids will like the table, but I also fear they will break it apart with any rough use, so I'll probably end up building one from scratch with real wood.

Great Table! My daughter loves it
I almost didn't buy this table after reading some of the reviews, but we have a lot of Melissa & Doug items and they've always been great quality, and the price is great! When we got the table, my husband had a lot going on, so I decided to try and put it together myself. Anyone who says that it is hard to put together is just not good at that sort of stuff. I thought it was a breeze - the instructions are dummy proof, and it only took me 1 hour, 15 minutes at assemble! By the time my husband got off his conference call, I was putting the last few steps together. It's sturdy, the drawer moves smoothly, and we even use under the table for concealing other toys of hers. It's the perfect height for our 3 year old, and it's nice and big, so her train fits on it nicely. We especially like that it's just white and plain green - this way, when she outgrows her train stage, we can use it for crafts or dolls or whatever. LOVE LOVE LOVE this product - would buy it as a gift any time!

Solid, durable and easy to put together
This table was genuinely easy to put together. We were missing a bolt and the seller send us one in the post straight away, no questions asked. Great service! The table itself is not beautiful; heavy, basic, draw hard to pull out for the under 2 year olds. Having said that, these features make it a good buy for 5 years and under. I've had three 18 month olds crawling over it at the same time, plus a roudy crowd of 4 year old scootering into it. No paint chips or collapse so far. The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is its quite low. If your children are tall or 5 years and over, you might find this limited.
