Would this pick up pet hair from couch?

I don't believe this would be very effective on pet hair. The brush is designed to flick crumbs...I think it would merely move the hair around on the couch not actually pick it up.

Would this work on carpet?

Not sure it would work. Intend for tables.

Could I use this on ceiling vents to get the dust out of the grids.?

no. It picks up the crumbs from the floor or table top. Not for vents....

Would this work well on stairs?

Yes I think this would work well for picking up crumbs etc. if the stairs are wood or flat pile carpet. It's small so you wouldn't use it in place of a broom or vacuum for a large area.
