Perfect drop-in for most old typewriters. Nice ink, and work fantastic for my old Remington-Rand. Those reviews about not fitting Remington typewriters are NOT FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS. They fit great, you just need to pop out the internal adapter, which is clearly laid out in countless forums, instructions, and youtube tutorials. It's even in Remington manuals, generations of people have been using typewriter ribbons, and nothing has changed in 50 years.

We bought a 1930's Royal Junior typewriter for our American Girl. A beautiful machine, at a resonable cost, showed really no wear and worked well, but the ribbon's ink was minimal.The lighter, plastic-like spools fit it perfectly, and our Kit Kitredge is tick, tick, ticking away. My wife was amazed that they still offer ribbons for typewriters. I don't know, call me a dinosaur, but I enjoy typing, too.They sent out the order the day I placed it. Very satisfied.

Does exactly what it needs to do. I recently received a Adler Tippa Typewriter from the 70's and the ribbon that came with it was old and worn out. Found this one and decided to give it a go. It works exactly like it should :). I also appreciate the added directions for installation and the fact that it is a small, veteran owned business.

The ribbon works some typewriters from the 30's and 40's. It fit some of my Royal typewriters but I had to rewind the ribbon for some of the typewriters as the spool did not fit correctly. The ribbon itself is well inked and works as expected. I recommend a good pair of rubber gloves if you have to rewind or put the ribbon on the original spools of your typewriter. Theses are plastic so if you prefer the original metal spools you will need to transfer the ribbon. I found the easiest way to do this was to take off one of the plastic spools and attach the ribbon to the metal spool. Then insert in to the typewriter without "threading" the ribbon and simply spin the spool until the ribbon is on the metal spool. Next take the ribbon of the other plastic spool and attach the metal spool to that end. Then you can thread the ribbon and you have retained the metal spools. Be sure to check the width of the ribbon on your typewriter to ensure the size is correct.

Bought an old Brother Webster typewriter from early 1960s; took a little work to get old ribbon off, new one on but that's not this product's fault! This ribbon works perfectly. Good, clean ink. Would buy again

I bought three of these to bring three beautiful old clunkers back to life: a 1950s Optima Elite 3 (made in East Germany), a 1960s Cole-Litton Vanguard (aka Royal Safari, made in USA), and a 1970s Kmart 200 (aka Brother Deluxe 1510, made in Japan), all with the expected dried-out ancient ribbons. Different decades, different countries, different designs. The FJA universal ribbon lives up to its name and fits each one solid and tight, threads right in, and provides a good ink impression in the paper. And American-made to boot, always a plus. This will be my go-to for all future typewriters I may acquire.

Don't be afraid to purchase this item just because of size concerns. Unless you went back in time and collected an 1800s typewriter, this ribbon will most likely work with your typewriter. Most, if not all typewriters use the same size ribbon, and even if the spool won't fit.. take the ribbon off and put it onto yours!I'm using this with my Olympia Report De Luxe and it has worked wonders. I bought two of these and I will say that one ribbon is more inked than the other, so I think it's a hit or miss with how dark/faint your type will be. For 7$(when I purchased), it's a chance I'd be willing to take over and over again.

This ribbon does NOT fit an old Underwood machine. The diameter of the spools is about half what was on my machine before. More importantly, the typewriter has a small post that inserts into a hole in the spool to turn the spool. These spools have no such hole, and instead have three small posts on the spool itself that make it entirely incompatible with my machine. I had to unwind the ribbon entirely from the spools that came with it and wrap them around my old spools. So, the ribbon does indeed have ink on it. The ribbon probably works with whatever typewriter it is designed for, but it certainly is not universal.

This universal ribbon is great and has enabled me to resurrect an old typewritter for my mother to use. It should last her for years.

The ink was fresh and it fit in my typewriter as advertised. It also didn't come in a giant box full of packing material so that was nice.
