Nice little tool
Light and easy to maneuver. This is not an entry tool, but works great if needed during overhaul operations and/or scene investigations. I primarily investigate fires and explosions, so the size, weight and functionality are very important. It has the usefulness of a larger axe without the weight. I’m buying another one to keep in my personal truck.

Here are some things I like about this axe
I bought this as an emergency axe for my boat. In addition, I also have a weekly event where I build a campfire for an outdoor group and need to split seasoned firewood. This axe does both jobs well. Here are some things I like about this axe. - It is small enough to mount and use on my boat easily. A larger axe would be difficult to swing and use in an emergency situation. - The head is heavy and has a good compact shape that makes it easy to split wood. My previous axe had a thinner blade that penetrated deeper into the wood, but did not provide as much leverage to split the wood and got stuck more often. - I prefer the composite handle. It is safer and also promotes a higher swing speed for better results. - The pick end of the axe has come in handy on a couple of occasions. I and others have used the axe head to grab, hoist, and pull objects. The pick can also pry and we found it fun and effective at blasting holes in plywood or MDF. -The axe came unsharpened but I was able to quickly put a decent edge on it using a grinder followed by a flat file. The edge has been holding up well. In contrast, some stainless steel cutting tools I have used in the past are both difficult to sharpen and do not hold an edge. Some things that I do not like about the axe include the following. - In addition to working with this axe weekly, it is also on display in a prominent stainless steel bracket on my boat. The paint has been wearing off the head and in general the axe looks a little roughed up. Maybe I need a second axe for display purposes only. - I can see that the smaller head on this axe would make it difficult to use for some chopping duties. There is no perfect tool for every application. I would buy this product again, and also the quality of this item would make me consider other products from this company.

FYI - small / lightweight
I am a career / professional FF-Paramedic, ordered this for work. We do not have hand tools on our EMS / ambulance units. I want to have a hand tool available for immediate use when I'm on the EMS unit. Overall - appears to be well constructed, handle has a nice grip to it, even with leather structural gloves. The blade needed a bit of sharpening, after minimal work with a bastard file, the edge is appropriate now. Only thing I will state - it is SMALL / SHORT / LIGHTWEIGHT. In terms of being a Firefighter's tool, it is very small. I've relegated it for general use as given the small (light) weight of the axe head, it cannot produce huge damage such as when overhauling. I've used it a couple times to aide in forcible entry & it worked quite well. Also isn't something I'd take up on a roof for ventilation, given the short handle and light axe head. Don't regret it, it will see plenty of use. Just keep in mind, it's small.

Great axe for Engine work.
This is a great lightweight axe. I use it when I'm on the engine. It's lighter and shorter than most axes. It makes it much more convenient when lugging a hoseline in. It also does a great job geting through any drywall or light construction material. Definitely a great axe for firefighters doing pipe work.

An accident waiting to happen
Didn’t even last a couple of days the axe head started coming off on the 2nd day of owning it, I tried to keep it secure with gorilla glue and that didn’t even help. The top is also broken from having to slam it back into place.

Not bad but depends on what you want to use it for.
It's not bad but the cutting edge should the and inch longer, and it needs some type of sheathing for safety and possible carrying, as it is sharp out of box. Handle is comfortable and easy to handle but just a little to long for the head. If the manufacturer would make the head a little larger it would be a great axe, or make the handle a little shorter it would be a great hatchet. Overall material is good.
