Genuine Winix 114190 Replacement Filter B for 9500, U300 Air Purifiers,black

This works perfectly in our 9500. We did not experience the gas-like smell as mentioned by previous reviews. I love how it fits exactly into the unit with no gaps around the side. Thus 100% of the air circulated thru your air purifier is being cleaned. You can remove the entire filter that comes with your unit (grey colored) and replace it with the new filter (black colored). Per Winix customer service, you can just discard the old filter as it should no longer be used after one year. Customer service also recommended that I remove the front and back filters of my replacement for cleaning every 3 months (the white inner filter cannot be washed only the front and back filters). We are extremely satisfied with this filter...we purchased off market brand replacements in the past but the sizing was not accurate and there are gaps around the sides. It's worth paying more for this filter.

It is a little bit different than the original filter. I have a WAC9500 from 2015. The original filter for that was a gray plastic. The original also had a small foam gasket around the back, this replacement did not. I was able to reuse the original gasket it seems, or you could buy some at the local home store. It may not be needed however, which is why they might have omitted it. Seals pretty well without it. The tabs for pulling it out of the machine are in a different location, does not match up with the recessed hand holds of the machine. However, this does not affect anything. No interference and installs/removes just fine. Finally, the carbon filter is a bit different. The original had square sections, like the prefilter looks, with the carbon packed in the squares. This new replacement one has tiny hexagon sections with a small amount of carbon packed in those. I would say the original carbon filter contained 20% more carbon. This replacement isn't skimpy on the carbon media, it's just the design has a lot more plastic in the air path. Still feels substantial and not as see-through as some 3rd party ones. Overall I'm happy with it. The main HEPA filter is just as high quality as the original, perfectly sized, not bunched up or damaged.

It’s always risky when you’re buying things off of Amazon, lol. But, unfortunately, Winix doesn’t make the model of the HEPA filter that I have.. (which is the Winix PlasmaWave 9500 Ultimate Pet Air Purifier “WAC9500”) I did purchase replacement filter from Amazon before this specific one from another seller/brand and it seemed fine in the beginning, though the tabs did not fit exactly in the right place it was supposed to.. (and same with this one as well, the tabs aren’t placed in the correct spot, where it actually should fit into, but that doesn’t seem to affect the actually fit or filter in any way. I’ve seen reviews in the past about ppl mentioning and complaining of how the tabs aren’t in the correct spot, but honestly it still fits and it doesn’t seem to affect how the air filter runs and works at all in any way in my opinion) But, back to what I was first trying to say, I did purchase a replacement filter from a different seller/brand then this one and I thought it was fine at first, but in the end, I finally found out that it was crap because you’re able to take out the carbon filter that’s in the back and wash it and put it back into the cassette and when I went to go and do that. I noticed that the material that was on the perimeter/border was made out of literally like construction paper type of material and obviously when I washed it just all started coming apart. So, I was definitely nervous about my second go around and trying to find a replacement filter. (I’m pretty sure they sell the replacement filter for the model that I have on the official Winix site, I think, and I can’t remember exactly, but if I purchased it off of Amazon, then that means that it was just a lot more cheaper, lol.) so, I had the option of paying more for the one on their official site or trying to go and find one on Amazon that will actually be a filter that wasn’t made from crap and actually worked like the original one (except for that tiny ”tab” issue that really isn’t an issue) and after many many comparing and using Fakespot, I came across this replacement filter. And of course, the first thing that I did when it was delivered to me I made sure that the back coat set that you can take out and wash every three months or so was made of good material, and not like the first one that I purchased and it seems to me like it’s made out of good strong material and not like the construction paper type of stuff that it was made out of from my previous one. I haven’t gotten around to actually washing it yet, but I can just tell by the look and feel of what the filter is made out of. I just know that it’s not going to fall apart like the last one did… (hopefully!!) I guess I’ll have to write another new review after I get a chance to actually wash the carbon filter and see how everything holds up but I have a feeling that this time around there won’t be any problems, but like I said, if there are any problems when I get around to it, I will make sure to update and let you guys know!

Like other people, i had to remove the new layers of the filter cartridge from the new black holder and place them into the original filter cartridge that came with my Winix 9500. You can see in the pictures that the original cartridge (grey beige color) has a foam gasket around the outside to help with air sealing. The new one did not come with a gasket, though one could've been added, but since that one didn't fit anyway, I continued to use the original one. The other parts fit perfectly as the original. You can see the difference in color between new filter and my original. The new charcoal filter has the charcoal bits separated into small honeycomb-shaped chambers vs. the original, which separates the bits into larger rectangular chambers. I think the new one helps to even out distribution of the charcoal bits, all good. Happy with the new filter, though of course wish it cost a little less. Note: the "change filter" light has never come on even though i've had my machine for years. Shrug

I bought my Winix WAC9500 air purifier in February 2014 to help clean the air at home and get rid of the occasional smells associated with cooking, living, etc. This is the original filter that came with the machine, and I have since ordered 3 more in a span of 2 years. They really do not last the full 1 year as advertised. As an example (and this happened twice): (1) My parents were painting their house and I let them borrow the machine for several days so that they could sleep in their bedroom smell-free. They thanked me after their experience because it worked for them and minimized the smell of paint. When I took the machine back home and turned it on, it began to release the paint smell in my own home. I let it run for a while in a room with an open window to let it "air out" but I had no luck. I then disassembled the filter and washed it per the instructions. No success, the paint smell was there, and I was stuck buying another filter. It was $100 at that time. (2) My in-laws one day left their oven on with steaks, forgot and left the house for 2 hours. When they came back, there was an unbelievable smell of burned meat everywhere. Again, I let them borrow my machine to help clean out the smell. There was a 90% reduction in the smell for them in 1-2 days before they returned it to me. When I turned on the machine at my home, this burned meat stench billowed out immediately. And like last time, I washed the filter for over 45 minutes to try to get rid of the smell and let it sit in the backyard overnight to air it out. When I put the filter back in, the burned meat smell was still there. I had to buy a new filter. I learned my lesson. The filter does work, but I do not think that it would last 1 year under normal use. Even the cooking smells that it helps to clear after a while become a part of the filter smell. I'd recommend changing the filter every 6-9 months instead.

Expensive, but necessary. I'd been using the filter that came with the original air filter for over 18 months. I vacuumed it out a few times, especially since I got a dog that I am a little bit allergic to (but he's so cute. I am powerless). I have owned two other HEPA air purifiers prior to the Winix 9500, and this one is my favourite. On the turbo setting it's loud-ish, but all of the other settings are very quiet, and I like to run my filter most of the time. I almost bought a knock-off version of this filter as the replacement, but I decided against it. It didn't seem worth the risk to save $20. These filters are insanely expensive, but if this is what it costs every 18 months, then I'm going to keep on doing it. One more thing - the smell reduction from this filter is nothing to sniff at. My room never smells doggy, or sweaty if I've left gym clothes out, or any other kind of stinky. The size 21 Winix replacement filter cassette really does deal with those kinds of smells.

Very good. As soon as you put it, you can immediately see that you have Less Dust in your house and Less odors which is basically the Purpose of the machine. The biggest problem is, that you're being ripped off, because all you need is the white filter in the middle, that is unwashable, and needs to be replaced completely, I would say every 6 months if you really want to keep the house clean. Also I am referring to the Model 9500. The cassette is not the Correct one for this model – I'm still using my original cassette (I even call the company and told them about it and they refuse to acknowledge it, because, I'm assuming they are going to lose a lot of money, if they're going to change the way that this New cassette is produced.) The front one you can use forever because all you have to do is Clean it, and the one in the back lasts for a Very Long Time – probably a year. So basically you're buying this $130 product just to get the white filter that is Unwashable Unfortunately. And so far I haven't found where to buy the Correct Size White Filter for this Particular Model.

this filter is supposed to have activated charcoal to get rid of odours, which i have been utilising since i bought the unit. this batch is absolutely terrible, and doesn’t get rid of any odours.

It does fit into my winix 9500. I need to hit reset filter for the light indicator to turn off.

It is perfect but very pricey!
