Works great when you can’t get the wires inside the wall

I used this to replace a single-gang surface-mount box in my camper to add a second duplex receptacle to the area by the kitchen. This box is deeper than the old one, so it is more prominent on the wall. There are plenty of options for mounting, and since the wires come in from behind, I did not need any of the knock-outs.

The quad outlet box worked very well for my project, installing security cameras. I especially like the treaded metal faceplate connectors. I think they make for a more secure faceplate installation since they need to also support the weight of the camera.

Decent enough... but the back is attached with four small clips- if the back isn't perfectly flat or if you are too aggressive with tightening down your switches/outlets, it'll just pop off and you basically have to start over. Because the hole in my 100 year old house wasn't perfectly flat, I had to use washers and break off some of the plastic ribs on the box to make everything work. It would be nice if was a place to screw the front of the box to the backing plate, I'm worried that if it gets bumped wrong in the future, it'll just fall off, exposing the wires behind.

It works and performs its function but it is lightweight and a little flimsy. If the surface you are mounting it to is not perfectly flat it distorts/twists the body, making fitting the electrical outlet and cover difficult. I was using it on a slightly textured tiled bathroom wall with rear entry using wall plugs. Unable to use the decorative face plates I had purchased to match the rest of the house as the box length and width resulted in a overhang. I could only buy a standard size plain smooth white face plates to fit this box. They look good when installed but so they suit the purpose I needed them for.

I have a 100 year old house, and even though it had all new electrical installed in 2021, a few of the junction boxes are still original or at least nearly original, like the tiny two-gang switch box at my back door. I had replaced most of the switches in the house with zwave switches and could not get two to fit into the in-wall box without sticking out a good half inch and being a real safety hazard. This extender box was exactly what I needed, it mounted right up flush to the wall and screwed into the existing in-wall box. I was then able to run the wires through the back of the box and connect my switches. I have attached a picture of the final result, with one Enbrighten switch on the left and a Zooz switch on the right.

Fits the deeper kind of outlet with usb ports. Was easy to install on the back of builtin wall unit. Might be a bit fragile for decoupling it from the base plate that gets installed on the wall, but once it is up it seems fine.

As advertised, good quality, easy to install

What can I say it's a electrical box. It works as such.
